Kill Team, Doom Lords, Van Saar and More

It’s been almost – what, two weeks? – since we revealed something awesome, and we thought that GAMA – the largest board games and game manufacturers trade show in the world – offered a pretty good opportunity to show off some more stuff you’ll be able to get your hands on in the coming months. From a returning fan favourite to some highly anticipated news from Blood Bowl and the underhive, not to mention the confirmation of a certain mysterious faction from the Mortal Realms… let’s dive right in!

First off – what if you could squeeze all the thrills of a game of Warhammer 40,000 into your lunch break across a coffee table?

Welcome back, Kill Team!

This new edition gives you everything you love about Warhammer 40,000, in less time and in less space. Using deep rules for squad customisation and specialists, you’ll be able to assemble an elite team from any faction you choose and pit them against your foes in fast-paced tactical skirmishes.

From one-off matched play battles to in-depth narrative campaigns where your fighters grow and evolve, this edition of Kill Team is a fully fledged game in its own right – it doesn’t use the existing Warhammer 40,000 rules set (but it’s just as thrilling!). Whether you’re looking to try out a new faction or explore new tactical challenges with your existing Warhammer 40,000 collection, there will be loads of great gaming opportunities for you.

What’s more, Kill Team will be released alongside a new war zone’s worth of modular battlefield terrain designed by the same team who brought you the Sector Mechanicus kits.

Meanwhile, in the City of Mirrors, two new Warhammer Underworlds warbands will be joining the fray:

Magore’s Fiends are a hard-hitting pack of Khorne-worshipping Blood Warriors, while the Farstriders combine the stalwart durability of their kin in Steelheart’s Champions with the elite training and ranged wargear of the Vanguard Chambers. Both of these warbands will be out soon, with a range of new cards, new mechanics and new tricks for every player to try.

Warhammer Underworlds has been one of the smash-hits of the past year. Even though this new pair of warbands completes the known list of factions for the game, don’t worry, we have big plans for Warhammer Underworlds in the future.
We’re already committed to supporting this game with worldwide organised play in thousands of locations; right now, you can play at regular in-store gaming evenings in independent stores, huge Grand Clash events at major shows and conventions and, very soon, you’ll be able to play at local in-store tournaments too. You can find your closest participating store on the Warhammer Underworlds website.

In another underworld – this time, the squalid underhive of Necromunda – the latest gang has arrived…

The Van Saar are the latest classic faction from Necromunda to be revamped, featuring new wargear and some of the deadliest weapons the underhive has to offer. You won’t have to wait too long for these guys – or their rules – to land, so stay tuned!

Less subtle (but no less violent) are Blood Bowl’s latest team – a pack of killers for whom touchdowns are a mere distraction from the “true” heart of the sport – namely, giving praise to the Dark Gods and seeing how many enemy players you can slay before you get sent off.

The Doom Lords combine the speed and ferocity of the Beastmen with the martial might of the Chaos Chosen to create one of Blood Bowl’s most dangerous teams. You’ll be able to grab these guys alongside Spike! Magazine – a new supplement for Blood Bowl that’ll feature rules for new teams, Star Players, columns from Agony Uncle Lord Borak and much more.

Even if you’re not intending to pick up the Doom Lords, there are exciting times ahead for all Blood Bowl players as we kick off another season of Blitzmania, offering you the chance to test your skills, meet fellow players and possibly win some prizes!

Last, but very far from least, the time has nearly come for all to be revealed.

They’re coming – get ready.

That’s all from GAMA, but stay tuned – there’s another Studio Preview in just a week’s time at AdeptiCon with some exciting teases and reveals on the way. In the meantime, let us know what you’re most excited about on our Facebook pages for Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Necromunda, Blood Bowl and Warhammer Underworlds.
