The Warhammer Events Team hosts a variety of events around the world every year, from single day Tournaments to huge Warhammer Opens, all the way up to the prestigious World Championships of Warhammer.
All of them are fantastic opportunities to meet fellow hobbyists, throw some dice and forge friendships.
These world class events have already been held in the UK, USA, Canada, Europe and Japan, and could be coming to an awesome location near you soon – though it may take some time, we aspire to bring an official Warhammer event to every region where hobbyists play around the world. What types of official Warhammer Event are there?
Our official events fall under one of these types:
Warhammer Open
These are our flagship events. These multi-day events include a variety of Warhammer Tournaments and Grand Tournaments, narrative events, and hobby activities.
You might also find painting workshops from world-class artists like Golden Demon and Slayer Sword winners. Many Opens will also host the Hobby Challenge, where you can dive into a mountain of sprues and bits to produce a diorama and compete for prizes.
Warhammer Tournament
These are single-day Warhammer tournaments for a given game system. Tournament formats are typically Singles, Doubles or Teams (see below).
Warhammer Grand Tournament
These are similar to Warhammer Tournaments but played across multiple days. Again, you’ll find Singles, Doubles or Teams formats.
Warhammer National Tournament Series
These are connected series of official Warhammer events in a particular country, at which players may qualify for a national invitational held in or around May of each year. Best Overall and Best General winners from each national final will win travel to and a spot in that year’s subsequent World Championships! There are already National Tournament Series under way in the UK and Japan, with more coming soon.
Warhammer Grand Narrative
A multi-day Warhammer narrative event dedicated to an unfolding storyline. You can learn more about the Grand Narrative at the link below.
The World Championship of Warhammer
Each year we crown the World Champions of Warhammer at this prestigious multi-day tournament. Qualifiers hail from over 50 nations and players can qualify at over 600 major Warhammer events worldwide, including every official Games Workshop-run Grand Tournament. Tournament Formats
Tournaments typically come in one of three formats: Singles, Doubles and Teams.
Singles are the classic 1v1 tournament format, with each player on a quest for victory.
Doubles events will see you join forces with a friend to play 2v2 games of Warhammer.
For Teams, you’ll gather together some friends and play together as a team (hence the name). There are typically five players to a team, making for five 1v1 games with a team’s total score determining their standing.
What else happens at official Warhammer events?
Most official Warhammer events will feature the travelling Warhammer Store. This features a vast range of Warhammer products, including Forgeworld resin expert kits, as well as exclusive events merchandise, miniatures, and more.
It’s also the place to find the special Commemorative Series event models, which change on an annual basis. From March 2026, that’s Cadia Unbroken for Warhammer 40,000 and Dawner’s Reward for Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
At most official events you will also be able to pick up swag boxes of goodies! These treasure troves are a perfect souvenir from the event, and contain handy game aids and awesome extras. There’s even premium boxes available with even more Warhammer swag. Check out the 2026 box at the link below.
Warhammer events usually have a strong social scene around them too. Larger multi-day events will often have social events around the main tournaments, where you can get to know your fellow hobbyists, make new friends, and chat with judges about any last minute rules questions. There are often fun and free mini-activities like speed painting a Space Marine or joining a Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 team tournament, and the chance to play pick-up games of any of the Warhammer systems hosted that weekend.
