We’re a few months into the season of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, so it’s time for the first of the quarterly Battlescroll updates.
Points adjustments are complemented by some important rules changes to improve balance in the Mortal Realms and below you can find a summary of the most significant updates.
Universal
There are a couple of changes that open up list building options. Firstly, a number of infantry heroes can now be included in regiments, and a lot of units have had their reinforcement restrictions lifted.
Grand Alliance Order
A couple of rules from the Scourge of Aqshy season rules have proven to be more powerful than anticipated and so are being toned down a little. Fyreslayers can no longer use Blazing Impetus to move after being set up, and for the Idoneth Deepkin, Abyssal Dweller no longer reduces enemy movement. The War Hydra from the Cities of Sigmar battletome supplement has also had its Impossible to Destroy ability tweaked as it was proving, well, impossible to destroy.
Grand Alliance Chaos
On the Skaven side, Krittok Foulblade can now use his A Reputation for Cunning ability without needing to spend a Command Point, and the Lightning Master ability of the Warlock Galvaneer is now guaranteed to activate, yes-yes! For the Slaves to Darkness the Oracular Visions of the Sorcerer Lord are now more reliable, but units with an Ensorcelled Banner can no longer switch Pledge to Chaos keywords. You chose your Dark God and now you’re stuck with them!
The newest addition to Grand Alliance Chaos – the Helsmiths of Hashut – have had their battle formations updated. The studio felt they were not having the impact hoped for and so the Zharrdron now have some new tools as they seek to claim dominion over the Mortal Realms.
Grand Alliance Death
The Nighthaunt have had the most changes in this quarter’s update with improvements to the Lord Vitriolic and Scriptor Mortis, while the Shadowy Aura heroic trait now blocks visibility to Nighthaunt infantry and cavalry, and there’s been a boost to the Death Stalkers battle formation. The Ossiarch Bonereapers no longer have to pay the Relentless Discipline ‘tax’ for reinforced units, so abilities such as Pitiless Assault just got cheaper for your larger units.
The Scourge of Aqshy Vengorian Lord has been proving slightly too powerful so the Soulblight Gravelords Monster Frenzied Surge ability has been adjusted.
Grand Alliance Destruction
Finally, the Gatebreaker Mega-Gargant from the Scourge of Aqshy has undergone a little change so that he doesn’t form an over-the-top combo with the new Rock-hurlers.
