#New40k – Warhammer staff paint Armageddon

While wandering the Warhammer office, we noticed that a few of our co-workers already had their hands on the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon box. The cads! Unable to wait for our own, we pinched some models off their desks to see what they’ve been painting this week.

Adam

As he mentioned in our Q&A video earlier, Adam already delved deep into the Armageddon box and was particularly keen on adding a new Land Speeder to his Ravenwing. These hovering gun platforms have been a classic part of the Dark Angels’ 2nd Company for decades, and this new chip off the old block fits right in with a sable-black paint scheme and the addition of a hooded head on the gunner.

Ivan

The Warboss proved to be a popular first project, and Ivan’s was one of two we snagged on our light-fingered dash through the office. He went for a vibrant orange to contrast the bright green skin of his big lad, going so far as to freehand a piratical Freebootaz glyph on the back banner.

We’ve also just noticed from the Warboss’ gun that Orks don’t know how tally marks work. Figures.

Timothee

Timothee took a step down the ladder to paint a brutal Deathskullz Bigboss, decked out in blue with beautiful freehand checkerboard and… kind of spiky details. Lightning bolts? Jagged teef? Answers on a postcard, please.

Pete

Pete took up his chapter’s Armageddon campaign banner by painting the dynamic Ancient in a dashing quartered colour scheme, choosing the helmeted head to avoid – we assume – the hazardous Armageddon air. Not that it would harm a Space Marine too much.

Dominic

The second Warboss belongs to Dominic, who chose a darker, more brutal colour scheme with dark green skin and bloody weathering all over the model. We think his Warboss has been in the trenches for a bit longer than the other guy, but aside from the dirt caked all over him, he looks none the worse for wear.

You can pre-order your own Armageddon box tomorrow, like us, because we didn’t get one early either. It includes a ton of models to put your brush to, so if you’re jonesing for ideas, listen to the ’Eavy Metal team talk about their own experiences painting it in yesterday’s round table interview.
