New kits are on the way for Vanguard Veterans and Intercessors, and they are packed with details and options. Take a look at the updated miniatures.
Vanguard Veteran Squad with Jump Packs
The return of the Vanguard Veterans in the Armageddon box was met with much rejoicing, but their push-fit models were missing one of their most iconic options – the shields. The new multipart kit fixes that, with a full load of combat shields to keep them safe as they boldly charge into enemy lines.
Vanguard Veterans are each equipped with master-crafted power weapons, and the new kit comes with a fine selection – five swords* and three axes. The squad sergeant gets their pick between an ornate relic weapon, a thunder hammer, or a power fist, and they – and two other veterans per five-man squad – can also swipe plasma pistols from the Chapter armoury.
You’ll have no shortage of distinct veterans either, as each kit comes with an impressive 19 different heads, split between different armour marks** and a complement of helmetless heroes.
Intercessor Squad
Much like their Ork Boyz counterparts, the new Intercessors kit is all about customisation. All 10 of the bodies can use any of the arms in the kit, split between 10 two-handed bolt rifles – two with auxiliary grenade launchers – three one-handed versions, four left arms pointing or holding things, and a choice of chainsword, power sword, or power fist for the sergeant.
There’s also a wealth of cosmetic accessories and head options to go around, continuing the design philosophy from the Armageddon miniatures by mixing older helmets and armour parts into the more modern and regimented Mk X Tacticus suits. You even get the top half of a helmet to hang off the belt, which you’ll know comes off if you’ve seen the Armouring of a Space Marine video.
The big news is that back banners are… uh, back! It’s the first time this fixture of classic Space Marine design has shown up in a box of Intercessors,*** and if that doesn’t give your Sergeant touch of old-school flair, we don’t know what will.
