Warhammer Open series heads to the UK

The Warhammer Open series is heading to the UK for the first time, fresh from an awesome weekend in Maastricht in April.

First up, later this month, the Events team will be heading to the UK Games Expo in Birmingham from the 29th to the 31st May, and bringing the Warhammer Open experience with them.

There are tournaments for Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Kill Team and Warhammer Underworlds – with Golden Ticket tournaments for the World Championships up for grabs.

We’ll also have the travelling Warhammer Store with us – which means it’ll be the first time in the UK that you can pick up the 2026 event miniatures – Cadia Unbroken and Dawners Reward. And of course swag boxes! Everyone loves swag boxes!

Tickets are on sale now, and along with the awesome Warhammer action, you’ll also be able to enjoy the UK’s largest celebration of tabletop gaming – your ticket price includes entry to the wider UK Games Expo.

If you’re attending the UKGE but aren’t entering the Warhammer Open tournaments, you can still join us at the Warhammer booth and enjoy hobby activities like painting and gaming demos.

That’s not the only Warhammer Open in the UK this year – the very first standalone Warhammer Open in the UK (and the first one in Wales) will be deep striking into Newport from the 14th to the 16th August.

As a standalone event, there’s even more Warhammer on offer for attendees, including hobby challenges, paint classes, and Narrative gaming. That’s on top of Grand Tournaments (with Golden Tickets up for grabs), the travelling Warhammer Store, and all the socialising and fun with fellow passionate hobbyists that you’d expect from these premium Warhammer weekends.

Among the most exciting things on offer are the hobby classes, with three world-class painters running nine classes across three days. Attendees will walk away not only with their new mini and new skills, but with up to 15 paints and a selection of artificer brushes they have been provided for the class.

Current European Slayer Sword champion Albert Moreto Font (he has three Slayer Swords in his collection now!) is running three classes:

  • Friday 14th August – Painting realistic textures

  • Saturday 15th August – Painting convincing skintones

  • Sunday 16th August – Interpreting light and volumes

Anyone who has seen any of Albert’s Slayer Sword winning artworks will know he’s one of the world’s most talented miniatures painters, and this is his first time teaching at a Warhammer Open.

And Albert is not the only Golden Demon winner teaching classes!

Multiple award winner Katarzyna Górska will be running the following classes:

  • Friday 14th August – Wings: Colour and pattern composition

  • Saturday 15th August – Colour in motion: Creating emotion through paint

  • Sunday 16th August – Forged in light: Non-metallic metal

And 2026 independent Golden Demon judge Erik Swinson will be leading the following courses:

  • Thursday 13th August – Painting faces

  • Friday 14th August – Object Source Lighting

  • Saturday 15th August – Tabletop+ with Contrast paints
