The Golden Demon painting competition returns to SPIEL in Essen this October, so now’s the time to start picking up those paint brushes!
The Entry Guidelines for this year’s competition have now been updated on the Golden Demon website, and you can find them at the link below.
The guidelines give you everything you need to know for the competition in Essen, from registration times to category details and frequently asked questions. Not sure whether your miniature should be in the “Diorama” or “Duel” categories? This document will help you out!
Last year at SPIEL, Albert Moreto Font won a THIRD Slayer Sword for this incredible wizard for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Can you wrest the Slayer Sword from Albert’s grip this year?*

Tickets for Essen SPIEL will be out later this year, and we’ll be launching our pre-registration form right alongside, so keep an eye out and make sure you get your Golden Demon ticket.
Of course, SPIEL will be hosting the second leg of Golden Demon this year – we’re still poring over the pictures and footage from the US leg at Adepticon from a few weeks ago.
Over in the US, it was David Arroba who raised the coveted Slayer Sword for his take on Prince Vhordrai, Lord of the Crimson Keep.

We took the Warhammer TV team over to Wisconsin for a special roadshow edition of Painting Desk, getting the inside scoop on the event from some world-renowned painters. You can find interviews with David and many others by following the link below:

We’ll see you in Essen in October!
* If you’re looking to brush up on your painting skills and want to learn from Albert, here’s a timely reminder that he’s running three painting classes at the Warhammer Open in Newport, Wales in August! There’s also classes from multiple-Golden Demon award winner Katarzyna Górska, and 2026 independent Golden Demon judge Erik Swinson. Tickets are available now!
