Yesterday, we saw how some of our favourite community painters tackled the monstrous Red Terror, and today we look at the Spectre Squads hunting down this ravenous beast.
As experts at reconnaissance in all kinds of terrain, Spectre Squads often don a wide variety of camouflage patterns to mask their presence. Rob, Dakotah, and Matt all went the extra mile with some intricate camo on their operatives’ uniforms, showing off the varied environments they operate in.
Meanwhile, Andy, Lloyd, Damon, and Stuart went for simpler and smoother colours in their uniforms, giving their recon troopers a slick look that matches their covert nature. Lots of black uniforms and green cloaks too… could they be taking inspiration from a certain legendary regiment known for their stealth?

Marko’s colour scheme is particularly striking, with careful lighting effects that make it look like his sergeant is advancing through the gloom, lit from above.
Ben and John swapped the heads on their recon troops to make more specialised-looking squads. Ben used the berets from the Tempestus Scions, while John’s squad features the hooded cybernetic heads from the Skitarii Rangers.
Even more squads rolled in, and some clearly had fun with the characterful new miniatures. We got mini dioramas and striking colour schemes aplenty, and we couldn’t possibly fit them all in one lot.
Oh, and Knotley took his signature technicolour approach to get nearly the whole kill team painted up in a riot of colourful uniforms. We’re not sure how well they’d do at the whole reconnaissance bit, but they certainly look awesome.

Bring your own Spectre Squad kill team into the fray when Kill Team: Terror at Devlan goes up for pre-order this Saturday. In the meantime, get a look at how the Cadian Recon Squad operate in Warhammer 40,000.
