Kill Team Balance Update – Frenzy, storms, and burrowing beasties

The end of summer means it’s time for another quarterly balance update for Kill Team, with some significant tweaks to teams like the Wolf Scouts, Fellgor Ravagers, and Raveners.

Though the game is currently in a great place balance-wise with many different kill teams competing at the highest level, changes have been made to a number of them that over- or under-perform in the current competitive landscape. Here are our top five.

Fellgor Ravagers

First, the Fellgor Ravagers have had their resistance to ranged attacks while under Frenzy dulled a little, now that a shooting attack which inflicts two or more normal successes can incapacitate a frenzied target.

Goremongers

Goremongers could put many kill teams under intense pressure from the get-go thanks to their natural speed and ever-present surge moves. To help level the playing field, restrictions now only allow one Goremongers Aspirant to surge in a given turn, though improvements have been made in their shooting profiles to compensate.

Hierotek Circle

A small tweak to the Hierotek Circle helps to close some unforeseen loopholes around their regeneration ability, now only letting it kick in the turn after an operative is brought back to life.

Raveners

Continuing the trend of fast melee threats catching updates this quarter, Raveners have had their natural durability decreased by a couple of Wounds, and they now have to leave the safety of their Tunnel to complete the Dominate tac op.

Wolf Scouts

Finally, the Wolf Scouts kill team’s elemental storm sees an update that means operatives taking advantage of the storm must now be completely inside its bounds, rather than simply touching them. This significantly reduces the area affected by the storm, and means operatives will start making tough movement decisions when they have to creep an extra inch or two closer before getting any benefit.
