Saturday pre-orders – Grand Cathay and Solar Auxilia Reinforcements

Add reinforcements to your Armies of Grand Cathay in the World of Legend and bolster your Solar Auxilia in the Age of Darkness with this week’s Warhammer pre-orders.

Astromancers of the Celestial Court

Empower allies or devastate enemy ranks with arcane might drawn from the lores of Yin and Yang. The Astromancers of the Celestial Court will give your Armies of Grand Cathay the upper hand when it comes to magical dominance. There is one wizard on foot, one mounted on a Cathayan horse, and a Crowman* lore familiar. Both Astromancers have cosmetic options and can be used as a Supreme Astromancer or an Astromancer on the tabletop.

Iron Hail Gunners & Crane Gunner Teams

Blast apart your enemies with the brutal black powder weaponry of the Iron Hail Gunners and Crane Gunner Teams. Crane guns are longer ranged weapons that can pick off enemy leaders and monsters at distance, while iron hail guns are unsubtle weapons that shred infantry formations at close range. This kit builds 12 Iron Hail Gunners and 8 Crane Gun Teams.

Peasant Levy

When Grand Cathay is under threat, Peasant Levies will join the ranks of professional soldiers to defend their homeland – and what they lack in skill, they make up for in sheer weight of numbers. These brave commonfolk can each be armed with a long spear – making them an effective defensive unit – or a warbow, allowing them to rain down volleys of arrows at range. The 20 peasants in the kit can be used as a single unit or split into two smaller units of 10 soldiers, each with its own optional champion, musician and standard bearer.

Charonite Ogryn Section

The Charonite Ogryn Section is a heavy-hitting unit for Solar Auxilia armies, wielding Charonite claws, blades, crushers and shredders. They can make mincemeat of regular infantry and even Space Marines will be wary of these augmented brutes. The kit builds four Ogryns with weapon and cosmetic options, and the miniatures have no faction markings, so they can be used in armies loyal to the Emperor or Horus.

Rapier Fire Support Battery

Rain down fire on your enemies with a quad launcher – or rain up fire on them with a mole mortar. The Rapier Fire Support Battery builds a pair of mobile artillery pieces that can each be armed with a quad launcher to take out infantry formations or the mole mortar, which fires subterranean shells to attack dug-in enemies. The kit also builds two crew on foot, who both have cosmetic options.

Rapier Direct Fire Battery

The Rapier Direct Fire Battery allows you to shoot directly at your foes. A mere 30 points gets you a mobile artillery piece armed with a gravis multi-laser array. The kit builds two Rapiers, which can both be upgraded with either a gravis heavy bolter battery to gun down infantry or a laser destroyer to destroy enemy tanks. There’s also a pair of crew who both have cosmetic options.

Journal Tactica: The Battle of Tallarn – Part One

The rules for the Charonite Ogryn Section and both Rapier kits can be found in Journal Tactica: The Battle of Tallarn – Part One. The book also includes in-depth lore looking at the planet before and after Perturabo’s devastating attack. There’s an Armoured Clash mission pack focusing on battles between massed tank armies, rules for including command tanks in your force, and a Historical Mission so you can re-fight one of the legendary battles on Tallarn.

HIVE

The inner turmoils of an Imperial hive world are laid bare in Dan Abnett’s next Black Library novel, Hive – a story of brittle order and simmering chaos, as Sacramentus deals with the death of one planetary governor and the crowning of the next.

Pitiless patrols of the Adeptus Arbites roam the streets, and rival gangs war for territory as whispers of rebellion drift upwards from the darkness of the Neg. Society teeters on a knife-edge. Will anarchy claim the hive, or will the Imperium’s loyal citizens step back from the abyss?

This hardback set, which includes both volumes, is available to preorder now. It will also be available on Saturday 16th May in eBook and audiobook format on the Black Library App.

White Dwarf Issue 524

It’s magical mayhem in White Dwarf 524 as wizards, sorcerers and other spell flingers duke it out in the Arcane Duel mini-game. May’s issue also celebrates Yarrick’s return to Armageddon with lore and background about the beleaguered planet, Wazdakka Gutsmek rides into action in a Warhammer 40,000 battle report, and there’s a Kill Team mission in which you have to escape a sinking Ork sub.

Please note that White Dwarf 524 is delayed in Australia and New Zealand.

* Look out, world, this is the beginning of crowmania.
