Sunday Preview – The new edition of Necromunda emerges from the Underhive

A new era dawns in the Underhive – Necromunda is entering a brand new edition, with a new Core Set and updated rules across the board.

Necromunda Skirmish: Core Set

Jump right into the new edition with a box packed full of miniatures, rules, and background lore. The new Necromunda Skirmish core set pits eight House Escher gangers against eight Goliath bruisers – all brand new miniatures – with a new game board and broken pipe terrain set included.

You also get the full Core Rulebook, sets of Gang Tactics and Campaign Scenario cards, a starter guide and construction booklet, 54 condition and status markers, a folding range ruler, dice, templates, and more. It’s unequivocally the perfect way to start the new edition of Necromunda.

Necromunda – Core Rulebook and Gang books

All of the existing miniatures are fully compatible with the new edition, so if you’ve already got a gang setup you love, you can just pick up the Core Rulebook separately. You’ll also need one of the new Gang books too, as each contains all of the updated rules for your faction(s) of choice.

Gangs of the Underhive contains rules for House Cawdor, House Delaque, House Escher, House Goliath, House Orlock, House Van Saar, Palanite Enforcers, Venator Gangs, and Corpse Grinder Cults, as well as rules for Justicar Courts, Hired Guns, Brutes, Hangers-on and Pets.

Meanwhile, Gangs of the Outlands contains rules for Outcast Gangs, Free Ogryn Gangs, Genestealer Cults and Genestealer Corrupted Gangs, Chaos Helot Cults and Chaos Corrupted Gangs, Malstrain and Malstrain Corrupted Gangs, Spyre Hunting Parties, Ironhead Squat Prospectors, and Ash Waste Nomad Gangs, along with the same Hired Guns and Brutes, Hangers-on and Pets from the other book.

Necromunda – Gang Tactics and Scenario cards

It’ll help to have all of the rules you use close at hand when the action heats up, and two sets of reference cards are the perfect tools for the job. The Core Gang Tactics cards contain 18 Tactics cards usable by most factions, plus eight blank Gang Fighter cards to keep track of your noteworthy gangers.

The Campaign and Scenario card pack is designed to help run a full narrative campaign, and includes 22 Territory cards, 24 Scenario cards, and six rules reference cards so you can easily track gang progress across a series of linked games.

Necromunda – Underhive Crew boxes

If you fancy getting started with one of the great Houses of Necromunda, a new set of Underhive Crew boxes will fill out your gang roster before you know it. Sets will be available for Houses Cawdor, Orlock, Goliath, Escher, Delaque, and Van Saar, with each containing around 16-20 miniatures from existing kits plus a House-specific Weapons and Upgrades Set, to give you a wide variety of gangers and loadouts to pick from when mustering your team.

Necromunda – Zone Mortalis Factoria Pipes

Add some rusted and crumbling pipes to your Underhive terrain layouts with a new set of Zone Mortalis terrain, designed to match the aesthetic of existing sets. Each pack contains a wide variety of pipes and attached machinery, with extra options and larger pieces possible compared to the terrain found in the new Core Set.

Necromunda – Conditions and Status Markers

Keeping track of who’s healthy, who’s injured, who’s on fire, and who’s medically insane – a common occurrence in Necromunda – can be tough when bullets start flying, so make your life easy with a set of 64 plastic Condition and Status Markers. Each double-sided token features a symbol that helps you identify important statuses mid-game, when used in conjunction with the new Core Rulebook.

Necromunda – Bases

Add a bit of underhive flair to your gang with some Necromunda-styled bases, available in standard 28.5mm and new 50mm sizes. Each pack of 10 28.5mm bases is randomly split across 4 different designs, while the 50mm bases come in a pack of three.

Black Library – The Wicked and the Warped

The long-awaited sequel to Robert Rath’s seminal Necron novel The Infinite and the Divine is almost here, following Trazyn the Infinite and Orikan the Diviner as they try to mend their strained relationship amidst the hunt for a long-lost expedition. The Wicked and the Warped finds them delving into a relic from the time of the War in Heaven, and what they find may shake the foundations of Necron society forevermore.

This epic novel will be available to pre-order in English hardback and French and German paperback versions, as well as a suitably regal special edition release which will be available while stocks last.

Black Library – The Infinite and the Divine

To celebrate the release of The Wicked and the Warped, the hardback edition of The Infinite and the Divine is returning to print. If you’re one of the few who hasn’t read it yet, you’re in for a treat.

This week on Warhammer+, Loremasters and Victory Pointers travel to the Mortal Realms for a Warhammer: Age of Sigmar double-header, with the former delving into the doomed city of Embergard while Lewis sits down with Warhammer Studio designers to sum up everything we’ve learned about the game so far and impart sage advice about game tempo and scoring victory points.

Meanwhile, Warhammer Colour Masterclass returns to Armageddon to look at all of the interesting markings and badges on both sides of the conflict – with in-depth tutorials for Orks and Space Marines. Here at Warhammer Community, we’re infiltrating the gangs of Necromunda to find out all we can about the new edition and the miniatures that come in the new Core Set box. See you there!
