See how Brawlers of Behemat works

The new Brawlers of Behemat boxed set is available to pre-order from Saturday, so we’re taking a look at just how two mighty Mega-Gargants smashing each other works.

Brawlers of Behemat is the game of monstrous melee and bone-crunching combat for two players. You’ll both shatter limbs, hurl buildings, and try to pummel your opponent into submission, and games can last around 15 minutes – perfect for play in a lunch break or as a warm up for a game of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

The Mega-Gargants in the box can each be built as a Warstomper, Kraken-eater, or Gatebreaker, who have different attacks and abilities. They each start with the Clobber attack, and as they take more damage, they get angrier, which gives them access to even more devastating attacks.

When you make the Clobber attack, you randomly strike a body part of your opposing Mega-Gargant – head, torso, right arm, left arm, right leg, or left leg. Cause enough damage to the head, torso, or any two limbs, and your foe is taken down!

Each body part has a tracker so you know how badly damaged it is. When the damage token advances to a different colour (from white to green, or green to orange), your battle fury increases and you gain access to bigger, more powerful events. For example, the Warstomper can perform the Kicked in the Goolies attack!

You might also notice the red skull shield – these are a reaction space. When the damage token reaches one of these, your Mega-Gargant can use the special ability on their dashboard – the Kraken-eater gets to use Netted and get access to some handy re-rolls.

When a brawler takes sufficient damage, they each get access to Colossal Smash. This attack damages each body part of your opponent AND does even more damage as you knock them through a terrain piece.

This fun, fast-paced game is also a great way to kick off a new Sons of Behemat army or easily add a pair of Mega-Gargants to an existing one. Rules for King Brodd and the Beast-smasher Mega-Gargant will also be in a future issue of White Dwarf.

Brawlers of Behemat is available to pre-order from Saturday, alongside the new Sons of Behemat battletome and miniatures, so you don’t have long to wait until you can duel in the ruins of Embergard.
