The first Codex of the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is Orks, and it’s coming with a bunch of new miniatures!
Trukk

The classic Trukk is vehicle of choice for Boyz looking to close with the enemy at high speed, and now it returns with a brand new, highly customisable kit full of weapon and detail options. Feel like a Big Mek by kustomisin’ your ride with a grabbin’ klaw or a buzzsaw, swap its big shootas for rokkit launchas, or take your pick of a spiked ram or dozer blade, among other options.
This kit can even have its front axles positioned in different ways to lean the whole chassis, so you can depict your Trukk careening into a high-risk turn or simply charging full speed ahead. No two need to look alike!
Mek
But who is going to keep that Trukk in working order? The new Mek of course!

Look, he’s got a crane bolted to his back! He can use it to fix up nearby vehicles and, thanks to his clever know-wotz, can also give +1 to their hit rolls. This cheerful chap is just as good at breaking things as he is at fixing them, and carries a kustom mega-slugga to keep tough customers off his back while he gets to work.
Warboss

You may have seen the Warboss already a few months ago, but we didn’t show everything back then – he has even more alternate parts. In fact, his entire head is built from your choice of four upper parts and four jaws, for a total of 16 different combinations.
In addition to the bionic eye and horned helmet we’ve already spied, you can also emulate heroes from other factions with a big Abaddon-style hair squig topknot or an Orky version of a Commissar’s cap. One of the lower jaws even has a cigar for a proper Blood Axe ‘thinks he’s a Lord Castellan’ look.
Codex: Orks

Codex: Orks is the first Codex for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, and it comes out of the gate like… well, an Ork hungry for a scrap. The new Codex gives an exciting view of what codexes will be in 11th edition, with more lore and gaming content than ever before…and a whole lot more besides!
There’s a new take on the classic Waaagh! army rule – having units get all sorts of bonuses when they’re riled up – and comes with no fewer than 15 detachments to mix and match so you can build your dream horde.
It’s also packed with painting tips, alongside art and faction lore, with loads to read about Orky culture, their main battlegrounds, and a new ‘Collecting’ section giving advice for building Ork armies in four distinct archetypes. You’ll also get in-depth information about all of the faction’s units with the return of bestiary-style lore entries – it’s possibly the most Ork lore in one place ever!

The Codex includes a code, which not only unlocks the book’s rules content in the Warhammer 40,000 App, but will also give you access to quarterly drops of rules and lore all the way through the edition. As each new Codex comes out, those factions will also receive ongoing support via the app, including extra detachments and other rules. Your Codex will be your subscription to a whole edition’s worth of updates.
Standalone Armageddon units

Veterans of the Armageddon box will also be getting their standalone releases, so you can add more Weirdboyz, Dakkarigs, Wartrakks, and others to your expanding army. The Bigboss, Bannernob, and Painboy with Grot Orderly will all come together as part of the Armageddon Kommand Krew, while everything else gets its own dedicated box.
But what about the Boyz, you ask? Well, now… that would be telling.
Command Pack: Orks

With so many detachments to choose from now, you’ll want to keep the rules and stratagems you picked close at hand so you don’t have to go digging through the Codex in the heat of battle. The new Command Pack is for just that purpose, giving you 94 handy reference cards – for detachments, stratagems, and enhancements – along with loads of double-sided tokens to keep track of important statuses like stat penalties from unit rules and whether Wazdakka Gutsmek has remembered to choose his Pulse Jet ability.*
Orks Dice
It wouldn’t be a faction release without a new set of dice to christen their Codex, and the Orks get a particularly nice set cast in green with red pips and the faction logo on the six.
Would you believe that there are even more Orks still to reveal from the new Codex? If you want to see them post-haste, you’ll need to take part in the global Siege of Death Mire campaign that’s now underway. You’ve got until 13 July to play some Warhammer with the new edition’s rules and submit your results for either the Space Marine or Ork sides – no matter which faction you play with.
Each week, the victor will get a new model reveal, with the overall winner being rewarded with an entirely new detachment. Your games decide if Hive Death Mire stands or falls, and its fate will become part of the Warhammer 40,000 canon forevermore.
But before you race off to batter down the gates or hurl the horde back from its walls, there’s still more to see from today’s Preview. Head back to the hub now and see what else we’re showing off.
* Easy thing to forget. He just gets excited in the heat of battle.
