The Red Terror is returning to Warhammer 40,000, and it can eat people whole! One bite. Yum. Rest in pieces, Commissar. See how with its new rules.

If you’re not familiar with infamous Tyranid monsters from yesteryear, the Red Terror is like a super-Ravener. He first appeared in the 3rd edition release of Codex: Tyranids, and was then known for slaughtering untold numbers of Imperial citizens on a little planet called Devlan. Ring a bell?
It seemed to have disappeared for a good few years, but now it’s back and ready to resume its favourite pastime of eating people whole.
Incidentally, it’s also really good at slicing whole crowds of enemy soldiers to bits. Its scything talons are a great catch-all infantry-killing tool, with its Strength of 7 meaning it can swipe through some pretty tough customers like Plague Marines, Einhyr Hearthguard, and Gravis-armoured Space Marines with little issue.

The Red Terror
1 model, 130 points
The real attraction is that gaping maw and Swallow Whole combo, however. You might only get a single attack, but there isn’t much that’ll defend against a successful Wound that automatically triggers Devastating Wounds, and the Precision ability means you can go right for the unit’s MVP.
Worried about an attached Character swinging a power fist your way? The Red Terror can now eat them for breakfast, and even get a few Wounds back, as a treat.*
And at 130 points, it’s only five points more than a unit of Raveners – making it ideal for adding some real hitting power to your underground attacks.

One of the best things about the Red Terror is that it’s very straightforward – just hurl it at something you want dead and clock off early for lunch. You can Deep Strike it in for a big surprise, then have it burrow back underground when it’s needed elsewhere.
Where it really shines is when bursting from the ground in the Subterranean Assault Detachment, thanks to it having the BURROWER keyword like its fellow Raveners, while the ability to re-roll Hit rolls of 1 makes its attacks all but guaranteed to hit. It also has the VANGUARD INVADER keyword, so it can join fellow infamous assassin-organism the Deathleaper in Vanguard Onslaught for a more stealthy game plan.

You’ll be able to get your hands on the Red Terror first when Kill Team: Terror on Devlan goes up for pre-order this Saturday. Want to know how good it is in Kill Team, too? Check back in with us later this week and find out.
