A new round of rules changes and points adjustments is here for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and with the General’s Handbook 2026-27 ushering in the new season, here are some of the big changes.

With Scourge of Aqshy* and a new General’s Handbook releasing, we’re expecting a whole host of new and exciting army lists to emerge, particularly since there have been a slew of new battletomes released over the last few months which have mixed up the meta quite significantly.
As such there has been a focus on points changes which are geared towards rebalancing the overperforming battletomes and helping out the battletomes which are currently finding it an uphill task to defeat their opponents.

That doesn’t mean that rules haven’t been changed, though, and two powerful abilities – Eltharion's Valourous Intervention and Drycha's Merciless Ambush – have been made into commands. This makes it so Drycha can no longer use her ability with Counter-charge, while Eltharion cannot use All-out Defence in the same phase. It also means players need to give up their precious command points to use the abilities, helping to limit their use without compromising their fun and powerful effects.

The Studio has also released some new faction rules to give those underperforming battletomes a bit more of a helping hand. The Seraphon have been given an update to their battle trait that allows them to complete multiple steps of the Great Plan throughout the battle. This means that a skilled general will be able to have all Asterism abilities active by the end of the battle, increasing the faction’s skill cap while giving all players something to strive for as the game progresses.
Likewise, the Idoneth Deepkin have an entirely new battle trait that allows Namarti units to chain attack with Akhelians – including with shooting attacks! Better yet, if they do so in the combat phase, the Namarti gain an additional attack.

Over on the Destruction side, the Gloomspite Gitz now have the Creeping Gloom ability, which allows you to enshroud a terrain feature. Pick one, and while friendly non-Monster, non-War Machine units are wholly within 3" of it, they are not visible to enemy units more than 9" away from them. Meanwhile, the Kruleboyz get a couple of tweaks, with the timing on Sneaky Sneakin' and Venom-encrusted Weapons changing to Any Hero Phase and the restriction on using only one Dirty Trick per phase removed.
