Multiple Golden Demon Winner, Martin Peterson, chats to Warhammer TV

On this week’s Painting Desk, 11-time Golden Demon winner Martin Peterson chats to Ed about three of his most recent entries. We’ve also got new episodes of Deep Strike and How We Roll on Warhammer TV this week.

Painting Desk

Martin won his first Golden Demon award with a bronze way back in 2002 in the Duel category, with an Imperial Fists Space Marine taking on a Daemonette of Slaanesh. Since then, he has been a regular at the top end of the painting competition, and the Space Wolves have proven to be a consistent favourite. In 2012, Martin won silver for his Space Wolves squad and bronze for a Dreadnought. Ulrik the Slayer earned a silver in 2016, and a squad of Space Wolves took home the gold at SPIEL last year.

2017 saw three silvers – two at Warhammer Fest for a Farseer and a Seraphim taking on a Sorcerer, and another at the Warhammer 40,000 Open Day for a Black Templar. The Sons of Dorn were also fruitful in 2015, claiming a silver, while at the other end of the belief spectrum, the Word Bearers took gold in 2019.

It’s not just the grim darkness of the far future that Martin has painted, though. He won a bronze in 2014 with a Fellwater Troggoth and was commended in 2024 for a Darkoath Warband.

An impressive haul, we think you’ll agree. In Painting Desk, Martin chats with Ed about how he maintains his drive to keep pushing for Golden Demon. He talks about some of his latest entries into the competition, pushing beyond the ’Eavy Metal style, and how he learns from each entry.

How We Roll

Jimbo from the Warhammer Studio is the guest on How We Roll’s latest episode. He’s talking about the impact of scenery on the battlefields of the Mortal Realms, the design philosophy behind the rules, and how best to utilise their nuances in your games.

Deep Strike

Host Alex interviews Dominic and Padraig from Cubicle 7 about their tabletop role-playing games set in the worlds of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. They talk about the development of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Wrath & Glory, and Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Imperium Maledictum, including taking inspiration from previous Warhammer-themed RPGs.

Warhammer Vault

Another issue of White Dwarf has been added to the Warhammer Vault. Issue 515 features a veritable smorgasbord of Space Marines, including lore, background material, painting guides, and tips for creating your own Chapter.
