Rule the Maelstrom with Huron and his crew’s spicy new datasheets

Now that you’ve seen the astonishingly cool miniatures of Huron Blackheart and the Masters of the Maelstrom – who are making a serious play for Miniature of the Year already* – you’ll probably want to know if they have murderous talent to back up their good looks.

Let’s not beat around the bush – yes, of course they do, just look at them. We’ve even got our hands on their datasheets, and there’s a lot to love about our renegade reavers.

Huron Blackheart is an exceptional warrior with centuries of experience battling the multitudinous terrors that call the Maelstrom home – including many of his own warriors – and he doesn’t disappoint with a close combat profile that’ll split Terminators in half with little effort. The compact heavy flamer mounted in his Tyrant’s Claw also has the Pistol ability, so he can preface his impressive Fight phase with a surprise blast to the face in true piratical fashion.

More than that, he’s a peerless leader who excels when taking control of enemy objectives, boosting the Objective Control characteristic of nearby Infantry and boasting an impressive spread of units he can join. Unusually for a Character wearing power armour, he can join Chaos Terminator Squads, teleporting into combat with them and hunting for booty on the opponent’s back line.

In case you wondered what the critter on his base was, that’s the Hamadrya. None of Huron's servants is certain what the Warp-attuned creature is, but it’s happy to lend its prophetic powers to keep him one step ahead of nearby foes with the Hamadrya’s Knowledge ability.

The Masters of the Maelstrom made a big splash when their incredible miniatures were revealed at the New Year Preview, and they’re equally awesome on the tabletop, with plenty of useful abilities. Katar Garrix and Garlon Souleater both bring dangerous character-hunting weapons to the field, with Garrix’s wonderfully named Axe of Ending being one of the most efficient ways of killing enemy heroes we’ve ever seen.

It’s got Anti-Character 2+ and Precision! Six Attacks! Might as well write off your commander now.

That’s not to say the other three don’t pitch in too, as they have their own tricks that can’t be ignored. A lifetime of experience as a rogue Apothecary has given Garreon the Corpsemaster a fairly… pragmatic approach to battlefield medicine, and should he decide that healing his allies isn’t worth the effort, he can always extract some Choice Samples from their writhing bodies. Either way, it helps you out.

Fleet officers are often valued for their ability to quickly redeploy friendly units, and Captain Sargotta is no slouch, picking up three units and moving them to more ideal locales so they can frustrate your opponent’s first-turn plans. The Enforcer is a dependable fighter in her own right, and can unleash her Barghesi companion Plunder to gnaw at a vulnerable foe.

You can get these new datasheets and the new Red Corsairs-themed Detachment rules in an update to the Chaos Space Marines Faction Pack coming soon, which you’ll be able to find on the Warhammer Community Downloads page. Huron and his crew are going up for pre-order in a few weeks, so keep a close eye on Warhammer Community for more info!

* It’s only January! We can’t wait to see what they’ll be up against over the course of 2026.
