Visit the front lines in a trio of new Astra Militarum novels

Before we kick off the article, a quick update on this weekend’s preorders.

The special edition of Raldoron: Revenant will not be up for pre-order on Saturday, but will instead be available to order on Wednesday 2nd September at 3pm BST. The regular edition will be available to pre-order on Saturday as usual.

A trio of new Astra Militarum novels are on the way from Black Library, giving a glimpse into the everyday heroism – and supernatural horrors – experienced by the massed ranks of the Imperium’s defenders.

Cold Covenant

Peter Fehervari returns with another nerve-jangling tale of the strange and occult in the 41st Millennium. Fans of the Dark Coil series will be no stranger to the unsettling depictions of the far future in Cold Covenant, which follows the rugged warriors of the 27th Halgarth Brine Dogs regiment.

After months stationed on a remote planet, they are finally due to depart for a new war zone. However, upon discovering they are bound for a death world, four Brine Dogs conspire to desert – a decision which sets off a spiral of tragedy and terror that will cast a long shadow, for the frozen world they’re on harbours a primal darkness.

Cold Covenant will also be released in a handsome Special Edition format, which includes an afterword from the author, as well as the additional short story Blindsight.

Voice of Command

The 2002nd Cadian Mechanised Regiment has been sent to retake a fallen shrine-city on the planet Nymea. Can Colonel Gabriel ‘Venom’ Velterson overcome the toxic light of mysterious blue star, the endless heresy broadcast over the hijacked vox-network, being quarantined by the Inquisition, and having his forces squandered by capricious Nymean commanders? Find out in Voice of Command – the first full-length Black Library novel by acclaimed writer Richard Swan.

Auxilia

Also making his Black Library novel-writing debut is prolific sci-fi author Russell Zimmerman. Auxilia follows a fresh-faced Cadian Castellan who is forced to take command of a ragtag auxilia unit of abhumans, drawing the ire of his callous – and frankly murderous – Commissar, all while civil war erupts around him. Will his first command also be his last?

All three novels will be available to pre-order soon. Sign up for our newsletter so you’ll be among the first to know when it’s time to join the Astra Militarum front lines.
