The Warhammer 40,000 Quarterly Balance Update – March 2026

It’s time for another round of adjustments to datasheets and points costs for Warhammer 40,000, so to explain what’s had a stern eye cast over it this time, we asked the design team for their insights.

With fantastic new content coming from Detachments and supporting datasheets in expansions like The Maelstrom and Eye of Terror, this was an update we wanted to keep quite focused in scope. Overall, we are happy with the state of the game and are making a few targeted changes to key units that need bringing in line with their peers – or lifting up to a more suitable level – through rules adjustments or points tweaks.

Here’s a quick look over some of the main changes we’ve made during this quarterly update:

Black Templars, Blood Angels, Death Guard, Drukhari, Emperor’s Children, Grey Knights, Imperial Knights, Imperial Agents (specifically as Allies) and World Eaters all get some light adjustments to help with their internal balance.

Adeptus Custodes have had minor points adjustments to better represent their elite stature.

Aeldari have seen points decreases on WRAITH units to open up some new playstyle options.

The Astra Militarum’s Rogal Dorn tanks of both varieties have been given a small points increase for their devastating firepower.

Chaos Daemons received significant rules changes to both Lords of Change and Kairos Fateweaver in the last update. We have increased their points to reflect their increased output, and these changes have also been mirrored for Thousand Sons.

Chaos Space Marines renegade warbands now restrict access to Cults of the Dark Gods, to better represent their recent turn to the side of Chaos.

Necrons, specifically the C’tan, have seen a resurgence with the updates that were released alongside the 500 Worlds books. C’tan Shards are barely contained vessels of godlike power that are unleashed upon the enemy with caution, not casually tossed into every skirmish by the handful, so to better represent them being powerful standalone units a number of supporting datasheet and Detachment abilities now exclude MONSTER units. This is combined with points adjustments to both their datasheets and Necrodermal Binding abilities.

Space Marines see points increases on some of their top performing units, to open up more list diversity.

Thanks, guys! You can download your Faction Packs below, which will have all of the updates to both rules and points contained within – and as ever, we hope you continue enjoying your games of Warhammer 40,000!
