New battleforce boxes pit the Chaos Gods against each other

The only thing the Chaos Gods love more than corrupting the mortal universe is knocking seven bells out of their rivals in the pantheon, and the so-called Great Game rages absolutely anywhere two of them might cross paths – be it on a battlefield or in the mind itself. Case in point: we’re not sure which was the first to get a new Warhammer 40,000 battleforce box sorted out, but word got around and now all of them need one, because everything has to be a competition with this lot.

These boxes are all due to emerge from the warp in early 2026. So who are they bringing to the big Chaos rumble?

Lords of Excess Battleforce

The Emperor’s Children kick things off with the Lords of Excess, a fast and deadly assemblage of troops that exemplify the combined arms approach of the Legion. The forces in this box allow you to lay down impressive firepower with two units of six Noise Marines and 10 Tormentors, devastating the foe with waves of sonic energy and bolt shells.

After you’ve weakened the enemy with shooting attacks, the Daemon Prince and a unit of 10 Infractors can rush in for a spot of stabbing while your ranged units grab objectives – a perfect plan, just the way Fulgrim likes it.

Khorne Daemonkin Battleforce

Khorne’s entry into the new battleforce roster takes a more direct interest in the slaughter with a combined force of mortals and daemons, drawn from his hellish realm. The Khorne Daemonkin battleforce is designed to be used with the Detachment of the same name, and is led by a Lord on Juggernaut who charges ahead of six Bloodcrushers all mounted on vicious Khornate steeds.

Once the charge hits home, the enemy are buried beneath the boots and blades of a vicious mob, spearheaded by 10 Khorne Berzerkers while 20 Bloodletters ensure a fresh harvest of skulls for the Skull Throne. It’s all close combat, all the time with these bloodthirsty warriors – but if you’re siding with Khorne, you already knew that.

Sekhmet Coven Battleforce

The Thousand Sons are better known for sorcery than brute strength, but if they’re going to win a fight against the other three Gods, they have to go all out. The Sekhmet Coven battleforce is just such a deployment, leaving their typical cohorts of Rubric Marines behind to focus entirely on the biggest, toughest units available.

An Infernal Master and coven of three Exalted Sorcerers form the command staff, backed up by the heavy footfalls of 10 Scarab Occult Terminators and a colossal Mutalith Vortex Beast – just the ticket for busting through enemy lines and causing havoc while they question why you didn’t hang back and cast spells like usual.

Vile Vectorium Battleforce

As the champion of entropy and slow decay, Nurgle is usually happy to turn up at his own speed and march inexorably towards victory – but unfortunately, he can’t afford to be indolent around the other Chaos Gods. Victory requires action, and so the Grandfather of Plagues unleashes an elite force commanded by the notorious Lord Felthius.

Felthius and his three Tainted Cohort bodyguards stand firm alongside three Deathshroud Terminators and three of the hovering horrors known as Foetid Bloat-drones. This hard core is strong enough to wipe out almost any foe, but to make sure their victims are dragged down and butchered for good, they’ve also enlisted 20 Poxwalkers to make sure enough warm-ish bodies are around to protect the real heavy-hitters.

Which one of these boxes will you be getting? They’re all great ways to start a new project during these early months, so pick one up and supplicate yourself before the Dark Gods.
