Perturabo’s grand plan revealed

The Iron Warriors have set out to conquer the Cadian Gate once and for all, and it’s part of Perturabo’s master plan for the Imperium. Today, we take a quick peek into the upcoming Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron book to find out what he’s scheming.

Just look at that artwork! This might be the first ever proper depiction of post-ascension Perturabo ever published in a Warhammer book, so take it in for a moment. He’s a bit of a monster, isn’t he?*

Despite his fearsome appearance, Perturabo’s deadliest weapon is his mind, and he’s been engaging it inside the towers of Medrengard for thousands of years.** Every dispatched warband and recalled fleet has been part of his intricate manoeuvres, and now the masterstroke is at hand. The time of the Infinite Citadel has come.

The Lord of Iron is sensible enough to stick to his strengths, so while Abaddon the Despoiler pursues his own wide-ranging plan to conquer the Imperium, the Iron Warriors will do what they do best – besiege it through grinding, brutal warfare.

A good siege doesn’t have to be confined to one planet, and slowly expanding the front line towards the heart of the Imperium is the goal, no matter how long it might take. An expanding ring of horrifically brutalist fortifications designed by Perturabo himself forges ahead – entire worlds turned into keeps, their resources plundered to the last stone so the Iron Warriors can raise walls that cross entire systems.

Put simply, it’s a classic Iron Warriors siege, but on an absurdly huge scale.

Battle by battle, the Infinite Citadel will creep towards Terra,*** leaving no foe behind that might disrupt the plans. When significant resistance comes to stop them, they will simply dig in and claim the defender’s advantage.

Most importantly, the carnage and horrendous body count suffered in these pitiless battles serve to please the Dark Gods further, and soon the veil between realspace and the Empyrean will be thin enough that the Daemon Primarch can finally walk upon Imperial soil again at will, and drop the killing blow in person.

Are you on the side of the Iron Warriors? Do you just want to see Perturabo’s galactic fortifications stretch from one corner of the sector to the other? You can read all about the Lord of Iron’s dark plans in the new Eye of Terror books this Saturday. You can also pre-order all of the Chaos reinforcements – including the Iron Warriors Warsmith Kravek Morne at the same time.

* We don’t hold much hope for those poor Skitarii.

** Some Primarchs will do anything rather than admit they might be wrong.

*** And this time, he won’t storm off after an argument with his brother.
