The Space Wolves are returning this Saturday, with an incredible new Army Set arriving for pre-order, followed soon by a second wave of gorgeous reinforcements. We sent some of the new miniatures to the Tabletop Tactics YouTube channel, who have returned with the legendary Space Wolves 13th Company.

Fletcher: As a self-confessed Space Wolves super fan, it was an absolute joy to work on our latest army. We’ve always wanted to represent the infamous 13th Company, forever altered by their hunt in the Eye of Terror.
The 13th disappeared into the warp at the end of the Horus Heresy, so I wanted to stay true to the classic Space Wolves scheme, and exhibit that iconic battleworn grey and red. Artwork from The Horus Heresy was a major inspiration. During my research, I noticed that deep shades of purple were used in the shadows of the armour, so I emulated this moody hue in my paint scheme. This choice also enriches the red accents on the shields, banners and cloth.
I’m proud of the faces of these gnarled warriors. With Space Wolves, there are so many unique head sculpts to select, and it’s a great way of splashing personality across your army. I’m also stoked with how the snowy bases came out, especially the green tufts complementing the red and purple.
Converting was a major factor to make our army unique. I used Intercessors as a base, shaving the aquilas from their chests, and carefully adding rivets instead for a more utilitarian look. I made the fur draped around their shoulders using modelling putty, and used a variety of The Horus Heresy and Chaos bits to reflect the more archaic equipment used by the 13th Company.

The backpacks and shoulder pads from the Legion MKVI kit help to give these Space Marines their distinctive look. I used the Wulfen kit heavily to lend savage accents and poses to the models. The backpack especially shines on the Wolf Guard Headtakers and Wolf Priest. Other notable mentions include arms and chains from World Eaters kits, Chaos Legionaries chainswords and bolt pistols, banners and ornaments from the Grey Slayers upgrade packs, and the skull helmets from the Deathsworn pack.
And this is just the beginning. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the fantastic new Space Wolves range, and see them carve out a legendary saga on the tabletop.
Thanks Fletcher – this really is an army worthy of the sagas. Remember, you can pre-order your own Space Wolves tomorrow!
