Yarrick has returned to Armageddon in its hour of need (it seems to have a lot of those). We watched him earlier this week, delivering the Emperor’s judgement in a brutal new animation before going on to rally the scattered Imperial Forces of the belligerent world. If you've not seen it yet, now is the perfect time to give it a watch.
Yarrick is obviously the star of the animation, but there are lots of other cool details. Here are some you might have missed, along with a few behind-the-scenes details on how it all came together.

The Strategium
The local governor* who we see delivering his proclamation in the opening scenes clearly considered himself a military man at some point, as he is bedecked in medals and symbols of office. We’ll leave it for you to decide whether they are honorary or have been earned in the fires of battle.

We only get an impression of the room he’s in, but we can already tell that it is certainly more opulent and comfortable than the conditions of his troops. In fact, it almost certainly wasn’t built as a comms hub.** What you might not have spotted is that he has a little regimental shrine against one wall. This reliquary includes the banners of the various regiments currently deployed to protect his city.

His hololith table and vox array command the centre of the room. A setup reminiscent of several Warhammer 40,000 miniatures, and even Roboute Guilliman’s media centre. You will be pleased to know that despite some minor damage, this setup still functions even after the events of the animation…

The Battlefields
Armageddon is a vast world, and its warfronts are wildly varied. We got a look at several in the animation – all equally horrific. There was the Equatorial Jungle, the ash wastes, and the outer ruins of a hive city. If we were in the Astra Militarum, we’re not sure which posting we’d want…

The animation is well worth a re-watch to see what other nuggets of Armageddon-y goodness you might have missed.
Did you forget the Steel Legion?
A few of you have commented already, asking about the Armageddon Steel Legion.
Armageddon has been at war for generations now, and the world’s original Steel Legion defenders have been worn down to a fraction of their original strength. There are still plenty of them about, though they now represent just a fraction of the expansive Astra Militarum forces deployed across the world, supplemented by regiments from every corner of the Imperium.
Fun fact. The first appearance of the Death Korps of Krieg was actually on Armageddon, in Codex: Armageddon, released in 2000. They were shown as an alternate colour scheme for the Steel Legion.

You can read the lore from this classic supplement in the Warhammer Vault, as part of your Warhammer+ subscription.
We have returned the favour, and created a guide for how to paint the much newer Death Korps of Krieg plastics in Armageddon Steel Legion colours.
We’re fairly sure there is more news set to come from the war world soon – sign up for the Warhammer newsletter to get the latest from the front lines as soon as it breaks.
* Of course, he’s just the “current” local governor – on Armageddon, leadership roles tend to have a pretty high turnover.
** On Armageddon, comms hubs have a shorter lifespan than governors.
