The new issue of White Dwarf is available for pre-order from Saturday, and today we’re having a look inside at some of the cool content you’ll be able to read.

April’s magazine sees the titanic Imperial Knights march to war, as many of their number rise to defend the Cadian Gate in Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron.
The issue opens with an extensive guide to the complex heraldries that adorn many Knights, examining the histories behind the sigils of House Terryn and House Taranis and how these badges have evolved over millennia. It’s a great primer for decorating your own Knights with custom heraldry, and covers machines from the Questor Imperialis, Questor Mechanicus, and Freeblades with plenty of photographs of gorgeously painted examples from across the Warhammer team.

A new mini-game – based on a classic boxed set of yore called Imperial Knights: Renegade* – pits two Knights against each other in a one-on-one duel.
Rather than using rules from Warhammer 40,000, these Titanic Duels have a custom action system that gives you fine control over your Knight’s every move, including a hit location chart that models individual parts with their own damage effects. It’s incredibly cinematic and a fun game to play when you don’t have time for a full-size clash – there are rules for Knights Questoris and Knights Abhorrent, but if you’re wondering how other super-heavies would go up against the Knights in a Titanic Duel, future issues may just have you covered.

Knights aren’t the only giant clanking machines cutting a swathe through this issue, however – the spectacular new Defiler is also in the building. The White Dwarf team delve into the incredibly detailed miniature and its Iron Warriors comrades from the Eye of Terror book, with design insights from the Warhammer Studio.

Outside the 41st Millennium, the Daughters of Khaine get gladiatorial with their own new mini-game, reenacting the deadly trials of Draichi Ganeth – the Tower of Blades.
First, you build a team of custom challengers by selecting their fighting styles, origins, and flaws – a great opportunity for customising some miniatures if ever there was one. Then, you’ll send them up the floors of the infamous tower, battling vicious creatures** and dealing with unexpected twists as you climb as high as possible for the glory of Khaine. How far up will you get?

All of this and much more, including your monthly White Dwarf Bunker Warhammer 40,000 mission and Warhammer Age of Sigmar battleplan, is inside issue 523. Pre-order your copy from Saturday, and don’t forget you can get issues delivered right to your door – with fancy full-art covers – by signing up for a 12-month subscription.
