You might have been expecting a feel-good Christmas animation? Sorry to disappoint - this is Warhammer after all.
The bleak reality of the 41st Millennium does not leave a huge amount of room for festivities and quality family time. Still, there are fleeting moments of tenderness in amongst the war and battle and general dystopian "grim darkness" of it all.
This new free animated vignette follows a family in a hive somewhere in the Ultima Segmentum. We get a glimpse into the drudgery of everyday Imperial life - toiling away in manufactorums or posted to the planet's defences. A pretty dull life, right up until Mankind’s enemies inevitably invade, at which point you pray to the Emperor to send deliverance.
There’s some lovely little touches in the video, like the Adeptus Administratum issued wrist idents that show the familial connection and hab-location of the citizens. There’s also a toy lasgun, and a child’s picture of a Space Marine. Heartwarming.
Accompanying this new animation are a suite of free digital gifts! You can download the haunting in-universe song that features in the animation here:
