Sunday Preview – Howl with the wolves of Fenris

Do you feel that chill wind? It’s about to get awfully frosty around these parts as the Space Wolves sweep in like Father Christmas… If Father Christmas wanted to kill you. There are new characters, new units, and a really cool codex supplement on the way – and if you prefer pursuits of a more literary nature, there’s an awesome Black Library novel coming too.

Let’s see exactly what the week has in store!

Codex Supplement: Space Wolves

The sons of Russ have some truly incredible miniatures to look at, but to see them mete out their savage justice on the tabletop you need some rules too – rules the new Codex Supplement: Space Wolves has in abundance. Not only will you find updated datasheets for specialist Fenrisian units and new Detachments to contain them, but there are also pages of in-depth background lore and miniatures galleries to immerse yourself in. Note that you’ll require a copy of Codex: Space Marines to get full use out of this product.

You can pick up the normal hardback copy as always, but if you fancy yourself a true Space Wolf, there’s also an ornate collector’s edition coming alongside the regular version. It’s simultaneously bold and refined, much like the Space Wolves themselves, with gold foil details and page edges and a black ribbon bookmark to keep your place.

Logan Grimnar

The High King cometh, and he cuts an imposing figure flanked by two loyal Fenrisian Wolves. Logan Grimnar is a hero beloved across the Imperium and a commander of surpassing skill, able to strategise from the rear lines just as readily as he leads assaults from the front – swinging the Axe Morkai and rending down entire companies of foes.

This single-option miniature comes on an 80mm round base, and packs tons of detail into every crevice of this majestic character.

Njal Stormcaller

Whip up a vicious storm as the greatest Rune Priest of them all – Njal Stormcaller. He uses his massive psychic might to simultaneously support allies and slay enemies, raising the elemental winds to propel his followers into combat even as buffeting gales reduce the range of enemy weapons.

This single-option miniature comes on a 40mm base.

Arjac Rockfist

As the personal champion of Logan Grimnar, Arjac Rockfist has felled countless enemies in his long career, often surprising them by hurling his deadly Foehammer like a bolt of divine lightning. He is unstoppable on the attack and immovable on the defence, decked out in a suit of tastefully decorated Terminator armour that plays homage to his past as an Iron Priest.

This miniature comes on a 40mm base, and can be assembled with Foehammer held ready or being thrown from Arjac’s hand.

Wolf Priest

Wolf Priests safeguard their brothers’ spiritual and physical well-being, acting as a combination of other Chapters’ Apothecaries and Chaplains. They heal wounds and soothe souls with traditional poultices and balms, before whipping their fellow Space Wolves into a killing fury with exhortations of rage bellowed from behind their macabre wolf skull masks.

This plastic miniature may be assembled with either an absolver bolt pistol or an obsidian ritual dagger in their right hand, and has options for helmeted and unhelmeted heads.

Wolf Guard Battle Leader

The junior officers known to the Space Wolves as Battle Leaders are trusted sub-commanders given responsibility over several hunting packs, in much the same way as other Chapters’ lieutenants. Each one is a worthy warrior of immense skill, tailoring their equipment to bring down the harshest foes in glorious close combat.

This multi-part plastic miniature comes with options for a master-crafted power sword or thunder hammer in one hand, and a heavy bolt pistol, plasma pistol, or storm shield in the other. It also includes one helmeted and two unhelmeted head options.

Wolf Guard Terminators

Veteran Wolf Guard warriors often take to the field in heavy Terminator armour, adorned with trophies from their many years of service. They fight at the very tip of the spear, teleporting right into enemy lines – as unnatural as such tech-wyrd is to their kind – and sowing death wherever they step.

This multi-part plastic kit contains five Wolf Guard Terminators who can be assembled with storm bolters or storm shields, with options for an assault cannon and power fist on one miniature, and a relic greataxe or pair of lightning claws for the Sergeant. It also offers five helmeted and 13 unhelmeted heads.

Wolf Guard Headtakers

Those Wolf Guard who want to take down enemy commanders and champions as quickly as possible eschew the size and weight of Terminator armour for lighter and more mobile gear. They wield wicked power weapons and shields to break through tough enemy lines, while their loyal Fenrisian wolves surge around the flank to fall upon distracted prey.

This multi-part plastic kit contains three Wolf Guard Headtakers and three Hunting Wolves, which are formed into a single unit. Each Headtaker can be built with either a power weapon and storm shield or paired power weapons, and the set comes with three helmeted and six unhelmeted heads.

Blood Claws

Rather than teaching their fresh recruits patience and flexibility in the Scout companies, Space Wolves strap them into full-size suits of power armour and point them in the direction of the enemy – with honour and advancement earned at the tip of a blade. These units of Blood Claws are thus wild and impetuous, eager to prove themselves and lay the founding stones of their future sagas.

This multi-part plastic kit contains 10 Blood Claws with a wide variety of customisation options, from heads and shoulder pads to a full suite of weapon options for the squad Sergeant. They can now be formed into squads of up to 20, so buy two!

Grey Hunters

Once Blood Claws have burned out their aggression in the fires of experience, they can join the ranks of the Grey Hunters – disciplined and adaptable infantry with a predator’s cunning and bottomless determination. Some content themselves with capturing and holding objectives, but all can switch their legendary Fenrisian ferocity back on at a moments notice when their prey show up spoiling for a fight.

This multi-part plastic kit contains 10 Grey Hunters with a vast assortment of customisation options, including assorted helmeted and unhelmeted heads and weapon options for the squad Sergeant.

Space Wolves Datasheet Cards and Dice

Keep your table tidy with a set of 25 useful reference cards for your Space Wolf datasheets, including Combat Patrol datasheet cards and all of the units found in Codex Supplement: Space Wolves. Then summon the will of Fenris and make it roll sixes for you with a new set of 16 pearlescent blue dice, dotted with gold ink on the pips and the logo of the Chapter on the six face.

Drop Pods

Slam into battle and get fighting from the word go with this pack of two revitalised Drop Pods, redesigned to be easier to build and cause fewer fights over how large they actually are. These new pods are built with the doors fixed downwards for easier deployment, with extra iconography included for the Ultramarines, Space Wolves, Imperial Fists, Black Templars, Raven Guard, Dark Angels, and Blood Angels.

This kit contains two Drop Pods, with extra pieces of rubble provided to accessorise their legs.

Killzone Upgrade: Shrine Statue (Made to Order)

Fight beneath the stony splendour of an Imperial saint with the towering Shrine Statue for Kill Team, a large and impressive terrain piece coming soon on a made-to-order basis. This iconic Heavy terrain was last seen in the Blood and Zeal boxed set, and is now returning to pre-orders as a standalone statue for a limited time.

As a Made to Order item, the Shrine Statue will be available to order for 10 days beginning on Saturday 28 June, and may take up to 180 days to arrive.

Dawn of Fire: The Silent King

The first phase of the Indomitus Crusade is drawing to a close, yet Roboute Guilliman still faces war on many fronts, and his desire to cross the Great Rift and bring salvation to the Imperium Nihilus is strong. Despite this, he is drawn to the galactic south, where the Necrons are building their power within the Pariah Nexus, and whispers talk about the return of the Silent King. The final chapter of the Dawn of Fire series arrives with Guy Haley’s The Silent King

It will be released in multiple formats, including a special edition with leather-effect cover, with rounded spine and foil text. It also has a gold ribbon bookmark, contains pieces of interior art, and has gold gilt page edges. Each copy is numbered, signed by the author, and features an introduction and notes for further reading by Guy Haley. This edition is available while stocks last.

French and German language readers will also be able to pre-order The Silent King in both paperback and eBook formats next week so they can find out how this epic saga ends.

Paragon of Faith and Other Stories

The Battle Sisters of the Adepta Sororitas fight the enemies of the Imperium with fire and fury, galvanised by their unshakable belief in the Imperial faith. Their missions pit them against the heretics, daemons, and more besides, and you can read all about their exploits in Paragon of Faith and Other Stories. It contains two brand new novellas, Paragon of Faith by Amanda Bridgeman and Saint’s Judgement by Ness Brown, as well as the short stories Infernal Motives by Jude Reid, Our Lady of the Voyage by Kate Flack, Joy of the Martyr by Ness Brown, Redemption through Blood by John Sollitto and The Fires of Our Faith by Nicholas Werner. You will be able to pre-order it in hardback, eBook, and MP3 audiobook formats next week.

Ravenor: The Omnibus

Gideon Ravenor and his many operatives work for the Inquisition to wage a secret war against those that threaten the Imperium from both with and without. A formidable psyker in his own right, Ravenor’s methods may be unconventional but his results are undeniable. This Omnibus collects the novels Ravenor, Ravenor Returned, and Ravenor Rogue, alongside the short stories Playing Patience, Thorn Wishes Talon, and Perihelion – all by Dan Abnett. You can pre-order it next week in paperback and eBook formats.

Above and Beyond

After reporting on the legendary exploits of aerial ace Commander Lucille von Shard, propagandist Kile Simlex returns to his scribe’s cubicle to waste away. A mysterious message claiming to come from von Shard is his one chance to escape, so Simlex journeys to Deighton – an Imperial world in open rebellion – to find the ace pilot a haunted shadow of her former self. With a xenos mercenary of unparalleled skill on the loose, and the tide of war incoming, Simlex must help her prepare for a deadly fight, or watch her suffer her final defeat. Above and Beyond by Denny Flowers will be available to pre-order in paperback next week.

Daemonhammer

Inquisitor Torquemada Coteaz is known for his uncompromising approach to the forces of Chaos, and the incredible power he wields as High Protector of the Formosa Sector. What few know is that decades of battling cultists and daemons have taken a heavy toll on his body, and that so-called allies covet his throne. In the darkness, even greater forces array against the Lord Inquisitor, leaving him with a choice: push past the limits of mortality, or cede his position and potentially doom millions. You can find out what becomes of Coteaz in Daemonhammer by Darius Hinks, which is available for pre-order next week in paperback.

Oaths of Damnation

The Space Marines of the Exorcists Chapter wilfully accept daemonic possession before purging their souls to prevent corruption from taking hold, to better fight the forces of Chaos. This heretical approach is not without its flaws, and those who cannot purge the daemons become Broken Ones. When daemonic conspiracy sees a Broken One freed, it becomes a race against time for the Hexbreakers – vanguard elite of the Exorcists – to hunt them down before this unspoken truth is revealed to the Imperium. A connection between the quarry and commander of the strike force further complicates matters in Robbie MacNiven’s Oaths of Damnation, which is available to pre-order in paperback next week.

Everchosen

Archaon Everchosen stands ready to sweep away the world in a storm of Chaos, but he was not born into this role. He began life as a devout servant of the warrior-god Sigmar, before a sequence of terrible events set him on a path towards the Ruinous Powers. Discover how Archaon fell, and became the person who would usher in the End Times, in Everchosen by Rob Sanders, available to pre-order in MP3 audiobook format next week.

This week on Warhammer+, Da Mekboy’s Workshop returns with two of the team who paint armies for Battle Report discussing large-scale hobby projects and the tricks they use to complete dozens of miniatures to a high standard on time.
