Sunday Preview – Chaos and Order battle in the City of Ash

Though the city of Embergard lies in ruins, desperate forces still pick through its soot-clouded streets for valuable emberstone – a battle for resources that forms the core of an exciting new Spearhead expansion, available for pre-order next week.

Spearhead: City of Ash

Jorvan Kreel, the Heir of the Kraken, leads an elite band of warriors from the Cities of Sigmar on a quest to reclaim critical emberstone from the clutches of the Skaven in City of Ash, a new head-to-head Spearhead expansion for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. It’s packed with 42 stunning miniatures that make up two complete Spearhead forces:

  • Jorvan Kreel and Thexa the Ash Panther

  • One Mallus Forgepriest

  • Five Freeguild Gallants

  • 10 Freeguild Grenadiers

  • Deathmaster Crixxit

  • One Skaven Deathmaster

  • 10 Gutter Runners

  • 10 Night Runners

  • Two Bomb Rats

These miniatures are also great for starting a new army or adding to your existing collection. The box also contains a 72-page Warhammer Age of Sigmar Handbook full of essential rules for playing the game, a double-sided game board, the City of Ash battlepack book with new missions and rules for the board included in the box, two ruined manor terrain pieces, five relic objectives, and a deck of 36 Spearhead cards.

The rules, board, terrain, objectives, and cards can be used in any Spearhead game, opening up fresh ways to play tight, tactical games for every faction.

Null Myriad Phalanx

Arkhan the Black is a master of necromantic magic, the most trusted servant of Nagash, and now the leader of a new Ossiarch Bonereapers battleforce with a diverse mix of dependable infantry and devastating monsters. Roiling clouds of deathly magic swirl about the skeletal form of the Mortarch of Sacrament as he rides to war upon his dread abyssal Razarak, flanked by ranks of Mortek Guard and Morghast constructs.

The Null Myriad Phalanx comprises Arkhan the Black, a Mortisan Soulmason, four Morghast Archai that can alternatively be built as Morghast Harbingers, and 20 Mortek Guard. This boxed set is a great way to start a new Ossiarch Bonereapers army or add reinforcements to an existing legion, and it can be used as part of the Null Myriad Army of Renown from the battletome.

Hive (Limited Edition)

The inner turmoils of an Imperial hive world are laid bare in Dan Abnett’s next Black Library novel, Hive – a story of brittle order and simmering chaos, as Sacramentus deals with the death of one planetary governor and the crowning of the next.

Pitiless patrols of the Adeptus Arbites roam the streets, and rival gangs war for territory as whispers of rebellion drift upwards from the darkness of the Neg. Society teeters on a knife-edge. Will anarchy claim the hive, or will the Imperium’s loyal citizens step back from the abyss?

This striking Limited Edition release comes in a decorative slipcase containing both volumes, with unique cover artwork, blood red page edges, and red ribbon page markers. Each set is signed by the author and individually numbered, and will be available while stocks last.

This week on Warhammer TV, Arena of Death throws down with some of the most devastating Monsters from across the Mortal Realms, while Loremasters pulls out the dust-clogged records of Armageddon’s history for a recap on its many, many invasion-related issues. Over in our painting corner, four contestants take part in the Ultimate Paint-Off to see who can best paint two Gryph-hounds in just 30 minutes using only Contrast paints.

Two more back issues of White Dwarf are being added to the Warhammer Vault this week. Issue 511 celebrated the glorious return of Fulgrim, and issue 512 celebrated Grandfather Nurgle and the Death Guard.

Here at Warhammer Community, we have a scalp-tingling miniature reveal from the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, plus a look at some subtle rules changes in the Fight phase. We’ll also be seeing how things are going on poor, war-wracked Armageddon,* and learning about the two newcomers competing for the inaugural Hive Death Mire Best Mount Award – Inquisitor Kroyle and Dogmata Superior Intranzia Fraye.

* Spoiler alert – not well for the Imperium.
