Some changes are coming to the Warhammer Community Downloads page to make it easier for players to find all of their updated Warhammer 40,000 faction rules. To explain what’s moving, Kenny from the Warhammer Studio is on hand with a quick rundown.
Kenny: The downloadable faction rules for Warhammer 40,000 are making a consolidation move! To improve the player experience and make the game more accessible, faction packs will now be available for each Warhammer 40,000 faction, collecting pre-existing documents into one convenient place.
This means that all of the additional rules and clarifications that supplement your Codex, from extra Detachments and datasheets to FAQs and errata, will be contained in one handy pack. Each pack will have a contents page that will enable a quick lookup of the rules you’re looking for, and a colour-coded version change log that will keep you up to date with your faction while identifying changes at a glance.

So whether you’re looking for new ways to play your favourite faction, or all of the Legends datasheets you need for your next narrative campaign, they now have one home. These faction packs are really handy for experienced players and doubly so for newcomers taking their first steps beyond their Codex, so make sure to check back every now and then to see if there’s a new update for your faction.
As for what’s staying separate – the Munitorum Field Manual with all of the game’s points updates will continue to be a separate document, as we know you like comparing them and it’ll be much easier if they’re not spread around separate faction packs. The core rules updates and tournament companion will also stay as they are – it’d just be a lot of repeated pages otherwise – and, more importantly, Combat Patrols will remain as separate files, as they aren’t affected by core Warhammer 40,000 faction changes and we don’t want any confusion for newer players.
We hope that easy access to all of these rules will both make it easier for you to reference them in the long term and to keep a copy on hand at tableside, so players don’t have to break away from the story of the battle to leaf through a pile of PDFs for a particular rule or clarification. It also makes it easy to share your faction’s updated rules with your opponent in a tournament setting – especially if it hasn’t been long since a major change.

As always, we’ll keep monitoring faction performance and making changes during our regular Balance Dataslate and Munitorum Field Manual releases. Thank you for playing Warhammer 40,000, and we’ll see you soon!
Thanks, Kenny! Head on up to the Downloads page and get your faction packs now.
