Sunday Preview – Fell hunters and faithful wardens clash in Kill Team

From the shadowy skies plunge the Murderwing, ready to sow terror and destruction. Their mission involves hunting down a source of immense power deep below an Imperial settlement, but surely there is time for them to indulge in a little bit of flaying too? They won’t get to have any murderous fun if the Celestian Insidiants of the Adepta Sororitas have their way. Who gets to rule supreme is yours to decide with the upcoming Kill Team: Shadowhunt. This new set is also accompanied by the standalone releases of the XV26 Stealth Battlesuits and Wolf Scouts kill teams, for even more hunter versus hunter action.

Kill Team: Shadowhunt

On the industrial world of Garranox, crazed doomsday cults stalk the shadows and create an atmosphere of palpable dread. Deep beneath the city of Saint Meryn’s Heart lies a dark power, and the Night Lords have released a Murderwing into this crucible of terror to hunt and butcher its inhabitants as they attempt to find the source of this malefic energy. Standing against them are the witch-hunting Celestian Insidiants, Adepta Sororitas dedicated to the destruction of psykers, who use their talents to follow the trail of the Night Lords.

Kill Team: Shadowhunt plunges you into this whirling melee of murder and faith, providing you with two full kill teams and an 88-page Shadowhunt Dossier. This volume contains rules for the Descent killzone, which lets you divide your battlefields into upper and lower layers, plus Joint Ops and Adversary Ops Shadowhunt mission packs with rules for new co-op and competitive games. The box also includes upper and lower Descent killzone game boards for use in the new mission packs, Adepta Sororitas and Chaos Space Marines transfer sheets, plus all the datacards and tokens you need to play both new teams.

The Murderwing are a six-man strong team dedicated to the thrill of the hunt. Their jump packs afford them fantastic mobility, all the better to find oblique angles to descend on their terrified prey from. The Celestian Insidiants prefer their feet planted firmly on the ground, a team of nine operatives armed with anti-psyker weaponry and the skills to track down even the most covert and evasive of foes.

XV26 Stealth Battlesuits Kill Team

The XV26 Stealth Battlesuits are some of the most advanced technology the T’au Empire have access to, combining optical camouflage with powerful weapons, allowing them to lure foes into firing lines before opening fire. This kill team contains five multi-part plastic Stealth Battlesuits, plus two drones and a Homing Beacon. Each box also contains a token sheet for use in games of Kill Team, and a T’au Empire Infantry transfer sheet with 177 transfers.

Wolf Scouts Kill Team

Recruited from the Great Company’s most accomplished hunters, Wolf Scouts are skilled warriors who range ahead of the Space Wolves’ regular forces, sowing discord and eliminating crucial targets. This kill team contains six multi-part plastic miniatures, including a loyal and ferocious Fenrisian Wolf. Each box also contains a token sheet for use in games of Kill Team, and a Space Wolves transfer sheet with 419 transfers.

XV26 Stealth Battlesuits & Wolf Scouts Datacards

Accessorise your XV26 Stealth Battlesuits and Wolf Scouts kill teams with a set of handy datacards, containing datasheet references for all of your operatives, faction rules, equipment, ploys, and everything else you need to play your kill team of choice.

Your shows on Warhammer TV this week include a special episode of Battle Report where Black Library author Robert Rath brings his very own Trazyn and Orikan miniatures with him to command an army of Necrons against Warhammer TV presenter Josh’s personal Salamanders army.

Sticking with the Black Library theme, Scribes and Scriveners welcomes Jude Reid onto the show to talk to Alex about her novels, such as Daemonbreaker, Morvenn Vahl: Spear of Faith, Creed: Ashes of Cadia and more. On Armies of Renown, we check in with Warhammer+ army painter Dan’s prodigious Death Guard collection, which is a long-term hobby project packed with awesome conversions and all rendered with heavy weathering.

On Warhammer Community this week we’ll be risking getting flayed alive and hunted down by angry Adepta Sororitas to bring you updates on the rules for both kill teams from Kill Team: Shadowhunt, and details of how the new two-part killzone works. We’ll also have news on how attempting to take on the Nightbringer in Kill Team works, plus a recap on where the lore of the game currently sits, alongside your standard Warhammer Community articles.
