At the tail end of 2025, we announced two brand new challenges for Warhammer fans worldwide. The Million Miniatures Challenge and Call to Arms are on! Warhammer fans everywhere are invited to help us try to smash the lofty goal of painting one million miniatures globally, and perhaps introduce friends and family to Warhammer along the way.

To take part in the Million Miniatures Challenge, you need to head to your local Warhammer store and pledge to paint either 25+, 50+, or 100+ miniatures by the 9th of May.
The team here at Warhammer Community are always building and painting – you might have seen some of our work before – so we knew we’d have to roll up our sleeves, break out the Lahmian Medium, and make our own pledges. It helps that our local store is Warhammer World, and it’s close enough to WarCom Towers that we’d have to fail a 3” Charge to miss it on our way in and out of the office…
Joel: I had a pretty great start to the year already, as I got my own copy of Warhammer Quest: Darkwater over the Christmas break. I’ve gotten really stuck into it and finished all the bad guys and most of the heroes already, and my model count is already around 50!

My pledge is 100 miniatures for my local store in Leeds, where we already have a lot of incredible pledges from other customers. I just hope I can keep up the momentum and push way past 100. I definitely have the kits and between an unfinished Kill Team: Tomb World set, a Grand Cathay Battalion, and a plethora of miniatures for The Horus Heresy I have my work cut out for me.
Rob: Normally I would meekly hide behind the curtains when this kind of thing comes around – I’m a slow painter at the best of times – but I’ve been taking sneaky peeks inside the Crucible of Champions book from The Maelstrom: Lair of the Tyrant and I’m pretty sure I could hit 25 models through custom Characters alone. I’ve already built several.

Alas, the responsible part of me says that this is finally the push I need to paint the infantry from my Warhammer: The Horus Heresy army, and with ten new Breachers already done* I feel like I’ve got a good start. I’ll aim for 50 miniatures and see how much more steam I have when they’re done.
Jon: When Warhammer: The Old World launched with the return of my favourite army, the fair Kingdom of Bretonnia, I was elated. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was not equal to the task of overcoming my family responsibilities – as demonstrated by the large box of knightly sprues under my desk which I am bumping my legs into whilst I type this.

I did make a test mini combining the new foot knights with the classic mounted Knights of the Realm… honest… I have a picture! By the Lady this shall not stand, and I swear a solemn vow to finish at least one Bretonnian Knight before the year is out!**
We’ve also got some great pledges from the much wider Warhammer Community team.
Ellie: I pledge 50 miniatures. I'm going to be combining the Disciples of Tzeentch Spearhead with three Tzaangor Enlightened, an Ogroid Thaumaturge, and a Gaunt Summoner to make a 1000-point army (plus a Daemon Prince for good luck!). Then I need to get my Horus Heresy Night Lords up to 2000 points by painting five Tartaros Terminators, five Night Raptors, a Rapier Battery and two attendants, three Saturnine Terminators, and a Kratos to top it all off. This could finally be the year where I paint my dream armies before I get distracted by the sparkly new releases – like when I got asked to paint some Helsmiths of Hashut for WarCom last year!

David: I’m aiming to complete my first 2000-point army for Warhammer: The Old World, starting with the Warriors of Chaos Battalion (44 miniatures) plus some Chaos Warhounds, miscellaneous monsters, and characters to round out the force, bringing my pledge to 60 miniatures.
Cristian: I pledge to bring 40 miniatures to unlife as I prepare my Deathrattle Tomb Host Spearhead for battle. With any luck, my skeletons won’t just be ready for Halloween – the deadline is in May after all – they might even have rattled their way through a few practice games by then!
Kristyna: I’m going to be brave (for a new hobbyist) and pledge 75 miniatures! After painting Inara Sion, the Cleansing Blade, for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater, I’m feeling inspired and very enthusiastic. Perhaps too enthusiastic? My pile of potential has easily doubled in size over the past month or two... To keep the momentum going, I’ll finish my Flesh-eater Courts Spearhead (12 miniatures left) so I can finally play with the Sand and Bone battlepack.

I’m also pledging to complete my Warhammer Quest: Cursed City box, which has 60 miniatures in (your pledge doesn’t need to be new purchases!). It was the very first Warhammer set I bought a few years ago, and I want to quest with all the amazing people who’ve been helping me to get deeper into the hobby. After that, I’ll have a go at some of the Wood Elf Mages – something different and exciting!
Some ambitious goals there! What are you planning to pledge? Remember that to take part you need to visit your local Warhammer store and speak to the friendly staff there. You’ll get an activity card to track your progress on, and the store will have a poster to track everyone’s pledges communally.
If you hit your milestones by Saturday the 9th of May you’ll be able to head into your local store to be awarded with a series of awesome gifts. You’ll get a One Million Miniatures pin badge for 25+ miniatures, a purity seal water pot stand for 50+, and a paint brush tin for 100+.***

We know it’s a lot of miniatures to paint, but if there’s one thing the wider Warhammer community is great at, it’s painting loads and loads of awesome miniatures. If you want to recruit some help, why not take part in the Call to Arms challenge?
By introducing new friends and family to Warhammer at a local Warhammer store, you can pick up a double-sided tracking card, and earn stickers when your referral picks up a starter set for Warhammer 40,000 or Warhammer Age of Sigmar, or a Combat Patrol or Spearhead box.
The Call to Arms challenge is running right now, so anyone you introduce to Warhammer will have time to join in with the Million Miniatures Challenge! The celebration day is on Saturday the 30th of May. You’ll earn a Bronze sticker by introducing one new person to the Warhammer hobby, which will score you a pin badge. Helping three people get started will earn you a Silver sticker and a gaming dashboard. Introduce five new people to Warhammer to be awarded with a Gold sticker and a brush holder for your desk!***

You can discover your local Warhammer store with our handy store finder below – and even arrange your visit to align with the release of the Daemonsmith Ull Zuru, the recently announced Commemorative Series miniature that will be available while stocks last from the 31st of January. Alternatively, if your store anniversary falls within the first five months of the year, why not pop along to make your pledge or give a progress update and pick up the new Commemorative Series store anniversary miniatures for 2026.
* You’ll see them in an article next week!
** Even one miniature is better than none!
*** Awards are cumulative and available while stocks last.
