New Warhammer: The Horus Heresy FAQs and Erratas released

Warhammer: The Horus Heresy is a sprawling game with lots of moving parts, and games of its size and depth always have a few unexpected rules interactions or formatting quibbles that fall through the cracks. Luckily, the designers of the Warhammer studio are right there to catch them, and after several months of tinkering they’re here to talk us through the latest updates and errata.

Now that the third edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy has been in players’ hands for a few months – undergoing the rigours of countless new games – we’ve taken the opportunity to supplement our FAQs and errata in response to some valuable player feedback. The FAQs focus on how certain situations interact with the Vanguard (X) Special Rule, when particular aftermath options can be selected, and certain Vehicle Shooting Attacks. They also outline that – as with all Shooting Attacks made as part of a Reaction – Glancing Hits inflicted by Reactions can’t apply Tactical Statuses.

For the errata, updated Rulebook entries cover Flyer mechanics, wound allocation to Models with the Paragon Type, and rework Psychic Curses to make use of the Resistance Checks instead of Manifestation Checks. In addition, the Template Special Rule has an update to clarify the range of attacks when using the Hellstorm Template.

Erratas to the various Libers further implement Resistance Checks for Psychic Curses, and Legiones Astartes’ Moritats gain the Bitter Duty Special Rule, ensuring they can join Destroyer Units. For Liber Auxilia, the exact mechanics of the Fire Support! Advanced Reaction have been tweaked, while in Liber Mechanicum the Arcuitor Magisterium gains some additional weapon options to better match its miniature.

As well as updating the FAQ and errata document, we’ve also taken the opportunity to amend some of the Legacy files available for the Age of Darkness with the 1.1 update:

Legacies of the Age of Darkness

The main Legacies document has received a few small quality of life changes regarding things like placement of the Pistol Special Rule and points values, while the Caestus Assault Ram now matches other flyers’ single Armour Value, Cassian Dracos receives paired Gravis power fists and the Moritat Mortalis gains the Bitter Duty Special Rule to match the errata above.

Legacies of the Age of Darkness: Talons of the Emperor

The few updates made to the Talons of the Emperor Legacies document make it clear that the Magisterium Vexilla only applies to enemy Units, fixes wording that prevented Constantin Valdor from granting the Controlling Player additional Reaction Allotment, and restricts the Vanus Infocyte’s Advanced Reactions to one use per Battle.

Legacies of the Age of Darkness: The Imperialis Militia

As well as a few small fixes on unit and weapon profiles, the Imperialis Militia list has received some larger tweaks to certain Provenances of War to avoid stacking multiple bonuses to Cool.

Legacies of the Age of Darkness: The Legiones Inductii

The Inductii list has one solitary change, which gives the Salamanders’ optional Inductii Master the Sergeant Sub-Type. Small, but important!
