The new edition of Blood Bowl, the venerable Warhammer sports game, is available to pre-order tomorrow. The box contains the Tomb Kings and Bretonnian teams, as well as all the paraphernalia you need to play, including the new rulebook.
We’ve covered the majority of the rules changes, and the 200-page hardback official rulebook contains rules on how to draft your team, run leagues, and play matched play and exhibition games, as well as new rosters for every team. It also contains a smattering of Star Players – sixteen, in fact!*

For those new to the game, Star Players are the legends of the sport, who have rightfully carved out a name for themselves in the annals of Blood Bowl history, whether that’s for an unprecedented amount of sporting achievements, or due to something rather more unsalubrious, often involving another party suffering a severe injury.
There are currently well over 40 Blood Bowl Star Players available to buy, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the Hall of Fame has forgotten to mention a few, and to issue NAF certified collectible cards and stickers for them. That’s our way of saying keep an eye out on future issues of Spike! Journal for new rules, and on Warhammer Community for new miniatures.
Because this ever growing list of Star Players can’t fit in the rulebook, we’re making those not in the rulebook available to download for free on the Warhammer Community site. They’re considered completely legal for any and all games in the third season edition of Blood Bowl.

Some Star Players have had slight rules changes for the new edition, so be sure to download the document and take a look at your favourites to see how they’ve fared. You won’t need to wait long to put them through their paces.
* There are also a lot of exclamation marks in the Blood Bowl rulebook! It’s Blood Bowl, after all!
