Every quarter Warhammer Age of Sigmar receives a balance update designed to update and tweak elements of the game to ensure it remains balanced. This time we’re halfway through the current General’s Handbook season, we’ve passed the World Championships of Warhammer, and we’re probably about to see a whole bunch of people start new armies in the new year.

Overall the meta is in a relatively healthy place, with many factions performing well at events around the world. Furthermore, given the Ghyran focussed season rules in General's Handbook 2025-26, along with new options introduced in the Scourge of Ghyran update, the Warhammer Studio have opted for a lighter touch on the Battlescroll to keep the rate of change more manageable for players.
There are a number of targeted points changes in this update, and some minor rules tweaks that are designed to address outliers and problematic units, including Pyregheists and Sunsteala Wheelas. Regiments of Renown have also been updated to match underlying points changes from the last few months.

In the current General’s Handbook, units are able to use the thick vegetation and shimmer spores of Ghyran to hide from their foes, but there was a little bit of narrative dissonance with war machines hiding in plain sight. They no longer benefit from the effects of obscuring terrain, which means you don’t need to worry about a stealthy Glutos Orscollion taunting you behind a curtain of vines.

The biggest change comes to the Blades of Khorne, who have had their Blood-Drenched ability reworked. Now, each time you activate a Blood Tithe ability, as a Reaction you get to apply one of a number of buffs to a unit for the rest of the battle, letting you spread the carnage a little more evenly and reliably.
