Despite Nagash’s desire for a still world of death, the Soulblight Gravelords can’t help but inject a little life into proceedings. Vampires are well known for their panache – you can’t command a court in drab attire – and the finery of ancient kingdoms still holds up even after centuries in the dirt. Don’t believe us? You don’t have to, because we gave some of the new Soulblight Gravelords kits to a number of fantastic painters from the wider Warhammer community. Thanks to everyone who took part, there were so many we couldn’t feature them all!
The Castellan of the Crimson Keep has a striking image to maintain, though his faithful steed Shordemaire does most of the heavy lifting. Spencer Stone, Sion Scannell, Marc Büsing, Alison Kersley and Garfy Etherington all provided their own spins on this barnstormer.
Garfy even added an atmospheric photograph of his Prince Vhordrai, framing him against a luminous moon. Gorgeous and gloomy in equal measure.
Other Vampire Lords probably look at Vhordrai and his monstrous mount with envy, though their undead steeds are swift even without giant rotting wings. These charismatic chevaliers like to stand out from the bunch, and Jose David González Ramos, Rob Warren, Chrissie Orton and Megan Prior-Pfeifer show off just how good they can look.
Rounding out our catwalk of Vampires in the Spring/Summer is the Blades of the Hollow King feat. Cado Ezechiar, Sissendra and Aurelias – not a vampire, but accepted due to his massive hat. Sion Scannell, Chrissie Orton and Chris Frosin have all brought these characters to life in their own special ways.

Make no bones about it, Wight Kings are just as powerful Vampire Lords, intimidating even the greatest of the Soulblight Dynasties. Matt Ward and Matt Crowther have both pledged themselves to these bony tyrants.

Like faithful servants they have even painted their faithful bodyguards – the Barrow Knights who happily throw themselves before their lord to intercept shattering blows. An easier job when undead and cursed to be reformed.
Vincent Knotley and Toby Wrong are shuffling into view now with two radically different perspectives on the Barrow Guard, with Knotley employing his trademark kaleidoscope of colour, while Toby tries something altogether more grim.
The Soulblight Gravelords also have three new manifestations they can summon to do their dark bidding, and Zach Pfeifer conjured some colourful versions.
Thanks again to everyone who took part. You can pre-order your very own Soulblight Gravelords miniatures alongside the Battletome on Saturday.
