With the General’s Handbook 2025-26 just a week out from stores, it’s time for a new Battlescroll. As usual, this update is based on feedback and data collected by the Warhammer Design Studio, with some new tweaks to align rules to the new season of Matched Play.
Read on for a summary of all the most important changes.

First up are instructions on how to use your new free Scourge of Ghyran rules, including the warscrolls, faction rules, battle formations, and enhancements, as well as how they work with Armies of Renown.
One of the biggest changes is the new Regimented Forces rule – if one player has more regiments than their opponent at the start of battle, then once per game that player can choose to re-roll their priority roll. This provides an extra wrinkle to the proceedings, preventing the low regiment double turn from being quite so certain.
Pitched Battle Profiles are the next big change. Enhancement choices, faction terrain features, spell lores, and manifestations can now cost points, and some changes have been applied in this update. Elsewhere, points reductions have been applied across the factions. The Battletome supplements for Stormcast Eternals, Beasts of Chaos and Bonesplitterz now move to Legends.
The usual FAQ and errata sections remain, and there are a few minor changes across factions. It only makes sense that Kairos Fateweaver would have foreseen the change to battle tactics in the General’s Handbook 2025-26, and accordingly his Oracle of Eternity ability now lets him swap out one battle tactics card, once per game. He has also been granted the ability to launch Bolts of Change, improving his presence on the battlefield.
For Spearhead games, the Castelite Company, Blades of the Lurid Dream, Fluxblade Coven, and Heartflayer Troupe all receive slight balance changes as part of this rules update.
