It seems like only yesterday that we were settling into our seats to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring™ as it first graced the silver screen, and now we’ve reached its 25th anniversary! This is a major milestone for any of us, so to celebrate, we’re bringing back a selection of classic Middle-earth™ Strategy Battle Game kits from the movie so you can recreate pivotal moments and play out your favourite scenes – both with the characters involved, and the epic locales they battled in.

Dozens of miniatures representing key scenes from the movie have been released over the game’s long history, and now some of the most requested returnees are heading back to shelves for a limited Made to Order run – including two awesome resin terrain sets.
Attack at Weathertop™ and The Ruined Watchtower of Amon Sûl™
Shortly after leaving the village of Bree, Strider and the hobbits made camp on the hill known as Weathertop, where – thanks to a delicious yet conspicuous dinner around a campfire – they were ambushed by the terrifying Ringwraiths. The Attack at Weathertop set brings this dramatic scene to life with a set of 11 miniatures: Strider brandishing a blazing branch, Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry all armed with barrow blades, the Witch-king of Angmar in his early guise as a Black Rider, four Ringwraiths, and even the campfire itself.

The ruins where the fight took place are an essential part of the whole encounter, and you’ll be able to get your hands on those too with the return of this iconic terrain set.

The Ruined Watchtower of Amon Sûl is a huge and detailed centrepiece measuring 16 inches across that faithfully recreates the surroundings of the film’s epic showdown, made using original film set plans to get every rock and crack just right. Its size means there’s plenty of space for your miniatures, ensuring it’s as functional as it is beautiful.
The Fellowship of the Ring™

Our quest continues with the Fellowship of the Ring, representing the original nine heroes who set out from Rivendell on their daring journey to Mount Doom. The set includes versions intended for a Fellowship army depicting their original outfits and equipment, led by Gandalf the Grey and featuring Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry.
Ambush at Amon-Hen™ and The Seeing Seat at Amon Hen™

At the climax of the first movie, the Fellowship are ambushed by Uruk-hai on the banks of the river and fight to protect the hobbits sought by Saruman. The Ambush at Amon-Hen set represents the characters towards the end of that gruelling battle, with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli fighting desperately while two Uruk-hai carry off Merry and Pippin, Boromir lying punctured with arrows, and Lurtz leading three Uruk-hai Scouts into the final encounter.

In addition to these miniatures, you can also own an impressive resin reproduction of the Seeing Seat – an immaculate stone ruin bristling with detail. Far more than just a pretty piece of scenery, this terrain has been carefully designed to keep several of its steps and platforms at least as wide as the average Middle-earth base, so your miniatures won’t be in danger clambering all over it as they fight.
The Three Hunters

After all was said and done, and Sam and Frodo had left to carry on their trek alone, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli resolved to pursue the Uruk-hai and save Merry and Pippin from their fate. This classic set has the trio dressed for long-distance travel, and is perfect for use in a Breaking of the Fellowship army.
All of these miniature sets will be on sale in early March for the usual week-long Made to Order period, so make sure you’re ready to snap them up. As with all Made to Order releases, it’ll take up to 180 days for them to dispatch, but trust us – it’s well worth the wait to get your hands on some Middle-earth™ Strategy Battle Game history.
