Kill Team community painters go all out for Shadowhunt

Soon you’ll be delving into the depths of a Necron tomb once more in Kill Team: Shadowhunt – which goes up for pre-order this Saturday – and while we’ve seen what the included kill teams can do already, we could still ogle over their beautiful miniatures some more. So why not examine how our favourite painters from across the Warhammer Community painted their own?

Our first batch come courtesy of the Adepta Sororitas, whose Celestian Insidiants love nothing more than giving rogue psykers a proper crack over the head with null maces and other specialised weapons.

Andrew, Dakotah, Damon, and Pierce all offered up some phenomenally painted Battle Sisters for their grand crusade into the Necron tomb, mixing colourful cloth with pristine battle armour to show off their elite status.

Jon, Lukas, and Solly pulled out some excellent lighting effects to set their Celestians apart, from armour polished to a sheen and glowing power swords to a wonderfully atmospheric monochrome scene lit solely by the Sisters’ lanterns.

The Celestians’ solemnity is matched by the wildness of the Murderwing, who sport some eclectic colour schemes that reflect the ever-shifting nature of Chaos.

Up first, we have Marc, Giacomo, Matt, and Rhys reaching for a variety of Chaos Space Marine legions to show off how good the Raptors look no matter the colour. The Alpha Legion, Word Bearers, and Night Lords all make an appearance, and while we can’t quite pinpoint where Giacomo’s Murderwing hail from, that’s just classic Chaos as far as we’re concerned.

Our next trio were inspired by these dynamic miniatures to create something a little different. Like Marc, Henry and Damon cut down their models’ jump packs to give them a less chaotic silhouette, while Paulie encapsulated the whole set by crafting a duel diorama using one member of each team.

Darcy, Tiffany, Tres, and Robert all took a shining to the Curseclaw operative, and can you blame them? He’s a raving monster if ever there was one, and by the looks of his lolling tongue, absolutely loves his job.

Finally, we had a few more Murderwing operatives from Ryan, Ruben, Alejandro, Knotley, and Robert (again). A couple of tweaks here and there, such as heads from the Nemesis Claw kill team and some particularly varied colour schemes from Knotley, really show off how much you can get out of these immensely detailed miniatures, and the amount of character they can pack into their poses.

You can make your own way into the dark demesne of Kill Team: Shadowhunt when it goes up for pre-order this Saturday, containing not just the zealous Celestian Insidiants and bloodthirsty Murderwing but also boards and new rules for playing on two separate killzones at once. It’s a riot!
