Warhammer art through the years: Chaos Space Marines

The powers of the Warp corrupt all they touch, and even the Space Marines aren’t immune to its effects – many of their number having fallen into the Dark Gods’ clutches in the 10,000 years since the Warmaster’s rebellion. The influence of Chaos twists their bodies into monstrous forms, and even those who resist its worst effects become more spiky and savage as time goes on.

As part of our ongoing series scouring the archives for the best Warhammer art, we’re plunging into the Eye of Terror to snap shots of the Chaos Space Marines. We’re focusing on those who haven't quite given themselves over to a single Chaos God just yet, but rest assured, the World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Death Guard, and Emperor’s Children will have their time in the limelight.

Did you spot your favourite despot within the crowd? Is Abaddon’s topknot really that big? If there are any questions you feel we haven’t answered – or notable pictures you think should definitely have been on the list – make sure to tell us on Facebook and Instagram.

Next time, we’re getting into the trenches with the real defenders of the Imperium,* as we brave combat with the Astra Militarum to get some quality pictures of Humanity’s finest.

* No, not the Administratum. Good guess though.
