The New Year Preview – Prince Yriel counterattacks with new Aeldari Corsairs

The void between the stars is a spectacularly dangerous place at the best of times, and when you throw the many perils of the 41st Millennium into the mix you get a place only the most daring (read: positively barmy) might tread. It would take a captain of stern stuff indeed to thrive in this lethal domain, so it’s quite lucky for the Aeldari that one of the sternest is on their side.

Yep, Prince Yriel is back to fight for his Craftworld – and he’s brought new friends.

Eldritch Raiders Battleforce

The greatest corsair captain in Aeldari history returns in the Eldritch Raiders Battleforce box, looking dazzling with a new miniature of his own alongside the debut of the Corsair Skyreavers, the mystical Void Dreamer known as Kharseth, ten Corsair Voidscarred, and – dare we believe it – a brand new Vyper.

Prince Yriel

Holding his legendary Spear of Twilight and decked out in all the finery of his station, Prince Yriel cuts a dashing figure with his signature pair of back banners and loads of decorative details. He comes with a helmeted option this time, in case he needs to cut out the screaming of those insufferable Red Corsairs and focus on piracy.

Skyreavers

His complement of Corsairs has been upgraded with the addition of graceful winged Skyreavers, who use their jump packs to serve as elite shock troops for Anhrathe* crews, dealing death at close range with corsair blades and multiple special weapon options.

The ten you get in the box can be built as two units of five or one unit of ten, with a massive assortment of heads available to make sure they all look different from each other. There’s also plenty of weapon options, with the Felarch able to choose from a Shuriken Pistol, Fusion Pistol, Neuro Disruptor, or Raiding Hook, while the option of a Shredder, Blaster, Fusion Gun and Flamer gives some of the Skyreavers an added punch.

Kharseth

The Eldritch Raiders’ sudden attacks from the darkness of space are so incredibly precise and timely thanks to the skill of the gifted Void Dreamer, Kharseth the Aethyrmancer.

‘What’s a Void Dreamer,’ you ask? They’re specially attuned psykers that can feel the shifting eddies of the Warp and guide their fleets through empyrean channels that would burn out dozens of lesser navigators. When they take to the battlefield, that control over the void manifests as freezing blasts that rip the life from unfortunate foes, exposing them to the lethal energies of the long dark.

Vyper and Starfang

You’re seeing right – the Vyper finally has a fresh new kit, and it’s a stunner. The swooping curves bring it much more in line with the current Aeldari aircraft and jetbike designs, with a completely redesigned gun pod that can be positioned raised to fire directly forwards or nestled down facing backwards to preserve the vehicle’s sleek silhouette.

Corsair assaults are typically lightning fast and focus on striking one target with overwhelming power before zipping away, ill-gotten booty in tow. The Vyper is the perfect vehicle for the job, carrying heavy firepower along for the ride whether in the standard Craftworld configuration or as one of the Corsairs’ personalised Starfangs mounted with deadly Drukhari weapons.

That’s all the new stuff in the Eldritch Raiders battleforce box, and to cap it all off you also get 10 existing Corsair Voidscarred miniatures that augment your forces with some light ground-based firepower, and two Aeldari Craftworld transfer sheets with 378 individual decals each.

Yriel’s raiders will need to be at their best soon, as Huron Blackheart’s Red Corsairs are striking out from the Maelstrom to cause all kinds of havoc. You can see their new reveals – along with plenty more from across the worlds of Warhammer – back at our hub page.
