Hail, fellow Marshal, and well met! As you’ve no doubt heard, the most valiant armies of the Cities of Sigmar are to receive a mighty boon on this good day. Adam ven Denst (no relation) has your marching orders.
If you like big guns (and who doesn’t?) then the new Veteran Cannoneers battle formation will be right up your barrel. It enables you to re-roll a hit, wound or damage roll for up to three Ironweld Great Cannons. The second formation – Fearless Exemplars – is a combined arms approach to battle, which is useful if you plan to be shooting before charging.
The heroic traits are collected under the title of Castelite Veterans. Draw Steel gives your units extra attacks, while Astute Tactician is perfect for getting your units where you need them quicker. The third trait – Cosmopolitan Leader – is particularly handy if you’re commanding a mixed force of humans, aelves and duardin. Basically the first two get stuck in while the aelves grab the objectives. Consider combining these heroic traits with Officar’s Orders for some truly unexpected combos.

The two warscrolls under scrutiny today are Pontifex Zenestra and Freeguild Cavaliers. Pontifex Zenestra has always been a powerful figure of authority, but now she’s even more so! First, she can wound – and possibly kill outright – any Wizard or Priest who dares to get too close, or banish a Manifestation. The Word of the God-King can be pretty potent. On top of that, she can inspire your warriors to such a degree that they fight even as they’re dying (brave lads!) or she can simply spirit them away to somewhere safer (not so brave, but alive!)
Meanwhile, Freeguild Cavaliers have also had a Ghyranic gee-up: the Red Work is every bit as violent as it sounds. Put simply, they just love hitting stuff. If they’re already in combat, they now have an ability that lets them and a nearby Cavalier-Marshal – including one on a Griffon – count as charging, making them doubly dangerous.
