The Mortal Realms are quaking with the recent arrival of the Helsmiths of Hashut. They’ve been duking it out in the Spitewood and now they’ve set their avaricious gaze on the bloody battlegrounds of Warcry with the help of a complement of free rules. The Warhammer Studio have also given the game a new balance pass, and created a Matched Play Battlepack to keep battles furious and fair.

The Helsmiths of Hashut retain their signature daemonic power points as a Battle Trait, letting a model with both the Helsmiths of Hashut and Warrior runemarks bolster the damage applied on critical hits, as well as their Strength and Attacks characteristic.

BATTLE TRAIT
At the start of each battle round, gain a number of daemonic power points (DPP) equal to the number of friendly desolation tokens on the battlefield (see the ‘Leave the Land in Ruin’ ability).
At the start of a friendly fighter’s activation, if that fighter has the Helsmiths of Hashut and Warrior runemarks, you can spend up to 3 DPP on that fighter. If you do so, apply the corresponding effects below to that fighter’s first attack action made that activation. The effects are cumulative (for example, if you spent 3 DPP on that fighter, all the effects would apply to them).
1 DPP – If it is a melee attack action, add 1 to the damage points allocated by each critical hit from that attack action. If it is a missile attack action, add 1 to the damage points allocated by a single critical hit from that attack action.
2 DPP – Add 1 to the Strength characteristic of that attack action.
3 DPP – Add 1 to the Attacks characteristic of that attack action.
You’ll need to spend some doubles to Leave the Land in Ruin to create desolation tokens, but you’ll be rewarded with more powerful attacks in later battle rounds.

ABILITIES
DOUBLE
Leave the Land in Ruin: Pick each obstacle within 3” of this fighter that is touching the battlefield floor and that does not have a desolation token. Give each of those obstacles a desolation token.
The complete roster includes the War Despot, Daemonsmith, Ashen Elder, Infernal Razers with both types of gun, Infernal Cohort with both Hashutite spears and blades, the Infernal Cohort musician (who can bang a gong to empower nearby allies), Bull Centaurs, Anointed Sentinels, Dominator Engines with both Bane Maces and Immolation Cannons, and Hobgrot Vandalz.
With the Disposable Lackeys reaction you can also have your Zharrdron fighters pick up a nearby hobgrot and plant them in the path of incoming attacks. Turns out cosying up to the Helsmiths isn’t all that…

HELSMITHS OF HASHUT
REACTION
Disposable Lackeys: A friendly fighter with the Helsmiths of Hashut and Warrior runemarks can make this reaction after they are targeted by an attack action but before the hit rolls are made. Pick a friendly Hobgrot Vandal that is visible to the attacker and within 3" of the fighter making this reaction. Remove that Hobgrot Vandal from the battlefield and set them up again within 1" of the fighter making this reaction and as near as possible to the attacker. That Hobgrot Vandal is now the target of that attack action.
The Helsmiths of Hashut rules arrive alongside a new rules update that answers a few questions about warbands like the Pyregheists and the Knives of the Crone, and adds new fighters and abilities to factions that have had recent releases – this is also where you’ll find profiles for the fighters from the Blood of the Bull and Kurnoth’s Heralds warbands. There are some points changes to balance the game too.
On top of all that, a new Warcry Matched Play Battlepack is available to download! This battlepack brings together six previous battleplans, which have had some quality of life updates, alongside six totally new battleplans, giving you a wide variety of objectives to fight over.

It also includes updated Divine Blessings that you can use to improve fighters in your roster, a series of Universal Abilities and Reactions, plus battle traits for Grand Alliances and faction runemarks. You can download everything by following the link below. Happy hunting in the Gnarlwood!
