This Cities of Sigmar army took 30 years to build, and they’ve only existed for 10

There are some truly spectacular shows on Warhammer+, from animations and battle reports to painting guides and army showcases, and all it takes is a single subscription to see them all. Some of our personal favourites are the episodes that dig into collections from long-time Warhammer staffers, as you always find some fascinating conversions or classic miniatures with heaps of stories behind them.

Armies of Renown is the undisputed master at rooting out the best of the bunch, and this week we’re taking a look at an incredible Cities of Sigmar army built up by Rich over 30 years in the Warhammer hobby.

“What? 30 years?” you cry, “But Warhammer Age of Sigmar has only been around for 10.” And you’d be right. Right-ish. Many of the miniatures pre-date the Cities of Sigmar by many years, but all have found a new home in the cosmopolitan ranks of the Order Grand Alliance, and perfectly capture the tumultuous nature of the Dawnbringer Crusades

How many different units can you name? Which do you think is the oldest? You’ll have to watch the episode to find out the answers, and maybe it’ll give you some ideas for what your prized army will look like in 10 or 20 years’ time.

What a banger to kick things off, and that’s only one part of this week’s showing on Warhammer+. Right on theme with our nostalgic memories for the World-that-Was, a brutal duardin-on-orruk smackdown comes to Battle Report, as the iconic slayer Gotrek Gurnisson and an entourage of Fyreslayers sharpen their axes on Ironjawz helmets led by the equally ornery Gordrakk.

These titanic heroes put on a show for the ages that would be right at home under the peaks of the Worlds Edge Mountains, guaranteeing a bloody and merciless affair with no quarter asked nor given. Finally, Black Library author and tortured vampire authority John French sits down for a second chat with Scribes & Scriveners, discussing compelling characters from across the worlds of Warhammer and the techniques behind their evolution.

You can watch all of these episodes and hundreds more with a Warhammer+ subscription, which also unlocks a range of essential benefits for Warhammer fans – from expanded app features and monthly promotions to the extensive Warhammer Vault archives filled with books and magazines from days gone by.

You even get a free miniature, picked from this year’s two incredible designs, which you can have delivered after a month if you opt for an annual subscription, or after your twelfth month otherwise. Sign up now, and get the ball rolling on another year of awesome Warhammer content!
