Warhammer art through the years: Adeptus Mechanicus

The Adeptus Mechanicus are the jealous custodians of the Imperium’s vast and ancient arsenal of technology. They worship the Omnissiah, the Machine God, in all things, conducting rituals of sanctification to ensure machines continue to work.

They are fusions of human and machine, the most advanced Tech-Priests often barely recognisable beneath layers of enhancement, while their most loyal soldiers are scarcely more than unquestioning automata who retain little of their prior forms. As such, their art represents the Imperium at its most dogmatic and bizarre, with a heavy splash of Martian red for good measure.

The STC for displaying all the Adeptus Mechanicus art available to humanity has long since been lost, but we know there are plenty of forge world adepts out there who have information on other pieces. Head to the Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page to let us know what your other favourites are.

Next time, we’re turning our attention to the Necrons, whose esoteric technologies are probably quite high up the Adeptus Mechanicus’ procurement list.
