The Blood Angels were renowned as warrior-artists who held themselves to an impeccable standard of grace and martial prowess, but behind their outward glory they held a dark thirst for the brutality of close combat that even Sanguinius was unable to extinguish. Despite occasionally slipping into teeny tiny bouts of murderous savagery, they were highly regarded by both Space Marines and regular humans alike, and lauded as one of the finest Legions of the Great Crusade.
