There’s a lot going on in the worlds of Warhammer lately, with the reclamation of the 500 Worlds in full swing and The Maelstrom: Lair of the Tyrant not far behind – but that doesn’t mean we can’t pay homage to the smaller conflicts that blossom in between epic battles and apocalyptic crises. White Dwarf is doing just that in Issue 521, shining a light on their favourite skirmish games, from Necromunda to Blood Bowl.*

The coverage is kicked off with some new Kill Team rules for fighting amidst the crumbling catacombs of a tomb world, adding unpredictable encounters with unstable rooms and technological wonders to the mix. Nobody knows quite what you’ll find when you swing open a hatchway or set foot on an objective, but it’s sure to be interesting – falling ceilings and forgotten traps are bad enough, but getting caught in a temporal gateway or falling victim to an airborne virus? Nightmare fuel.

You can also find out how to give the Murderwing operatives that recently entered the killzone a fetching Night Lords colour scheme thanks to an in-depth painting guide, which covers everything from armour and trim to those intricate lightning bolt patterns they’re known for.
White Dwarf’s own Space Marine Operations mini-game returns with some new options for your characters, including alternate class perks to spice up your games, as well as two new Tyranid monsters to tackle – the lumbering Biovore and a towering, Terminus-level Trygon. Plus, two new missions recreate scenarios from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 as you bring down a massive Hierophant bio-titan with defence guns and evacuate an essential Tech-Priest from under the shadow of the Trygon.

It’s not often we tune into Cabalvision for a live game of Blood Bowl, so an equally exciting match report is just what we need. This month is an all-timer, as the Brionne Barons butt heads with the Nehekhara Nightmares for what is sure to be a chaotic, ruthless affair, with match highlights from the inimitable Jim and Bob, and play-by-plays worthy of a championship round.

You can pre-order your issue on Saturday, or sign up for a 12-month subscription and get special full-art cover issues delivered right to your door.
