It’s June and that means it’s time for the latest Warhammer 40,000 Balance Dataslate, alongside updates to the FAQ and Errata. You can download the full document below, and the Warhammer Studio are here to discuss some of the most interesting changes.
Adepta Sororitas
We were keen to open up the Champions of Faith Detachment to be more flexible with how you can use your units. Combine this with some targeted rules adjustments for some of the lesser seen units, and some key points breaks, and Sisters players should be excited to reassess their options on the tabletop.
Adeptus Mechanicus
Kastelan Robots are one of the Adeptus Mechanicus’ most unique units, and we’ve taken this opportunity to give them access to the army rule as standard, which should help them synergise across any Detachment you choose to play. As a result we have also changed the Cohort Cybernetica Detachment rule.

Aeldari
Aeldari have been dishing out more damage than we’d like, particularly the Devoted of Ynnead. The Lethal Intent ability was proving to be too broad in its application, so we have refocused it to be more targeted and specific, which should lead to a better play experience for both the Aeldari player and their opponent.
Astra Militarum
Astra Militarum have mostly had point adjustments to balance out a number of units, but we have taken the chance to update Lord Solar Leontus to be able to order Titanic units.
Blood Angels
Our aim for this update was to make the more characterful Blood Angels units feel competitive, as opposed to the core Codex: Space Marine choices. There’s a rules update to make Death Company easier to support, combined with some points adjustments. This does mean the Death Company Captain turns off his own updated ability, a choice we made to provide a better reason for players to play with a Death Company Captain in a Death Company unit.

Chaos Space Marines
In more recent Codexes, Daemon Princes gained the Lone Operative ability near friendly Infantry units, which we have extended to Chaos Space Marines Daemon Princes. We have also looked at two of the more iconic kits from the range: the Lord Discordant and Vashtorr, who have both received exciting updates.
Dark Angels
The Lion is an amazing centerpiece model for any Dark Angels force, so we made some tweaks to his datasheet.
Drukhari
The Reaper’s Wager Detachment opened up a new way for Drukhari players to incorporate Harlequins allies into their lists. The Detachment rule had only provided benefits for the parts of your army that were losing the wager. Now those losing the wager get the bigger benefit, while those winning it also get a boost.

Leagues of Votann
In a quality of life change, attendants for both the Brôkhyr Iron‑master and the Grimnyr now take no space up in transports, making it easier to join these Characters to units and still be transported around.
Orks
Speed Freeks get some love in this update, with most units receiving a points reduction, while the Adrenaline Junkies Detachment rule allows units to hurtle into combat even faster than before.
Space Marines
Space Marines – Ultramarines specifically – have seen a surge in popularity since the December update. Part of this is due to the Command Point manipulation available when you combine Roboute Guilliman and Marneus Calgar in the same list. We have changed Guilliman’s Supreme Strategist ability to function once per battle round rather than per turn. In addition, Calgar’s Master Tactician ability now requires him to be your Warlord.

T’au Empire
T’au are seeing what is probably the biggest adjustment in this dataslate – listening to player feedback, the army rule has been proving to be hard for newer players to utilise. We have therefore adjusted the Observer system to allow all non-observer T’au units who target an observed enemy to become guided.
A number of Detachment and datasheet rules have been adjusted to work in conjunction with this updated army rule.
Tyranids
Hive Tyrants have had their Will of the Hive Mind Ability updated to be once per battle round rather than per turn, just like we did with Roboute Guilliman. On top of this, the Psychophage has received a number of stat boosts and ability adjustments to make it a more interesting support choice.
These are only the highlights, and there are more changes to be found by digging through the Balance Dataslate itself. Download the document below, and remember you can always find the latest updates at the Warhammer Community downloads page.
