Scourge of Ghyran day 1: Bring on the SkavenDOOM!

Yes-yes, man-things, the Skaven get their exclusive Scourge of Ghyran upgrades first, as is only right for the most ruinous Children of the Horned Rat! Here’s Clawmaster Lydia to tell you all about the Skavendoom!

First up in the Scourge of Ghyran are two new battle formations that truly epitomise the bravery of the Skaven. With the Envoys of the Deepengnaw, you can pile your Verminlords into combat knowing full well that you can deflect damage onto your Skaven minions. That’s surely what they’re for anyway, right? Meanwhile, if you choose Gathering the Clans, you can essentially perform a mass Redeploy to get your Skaven out of trouble. Or into a more tactical position if you want to sound less cowardly.

There are also three new heroic traits to pick-gnaw on. Devious Underling rewards one hero when another of your heroes dies (it really is dead rat’s boots when it comes to Skaven career progression) while Fleshmeddler makes a Clan Moulder unit’s weapons more choppy. Lastly, the Pit Tinkerer makes all your unpredictable wheel-based contraptions of mass destruction both more reliable and more destructive. Win-win!

To round out this offering from the Rat-God, we have two Scourge of Ghyran warscrolls that you can swap out for those in your battletome. The Grey Seer on Screaming Bell has clearly upped his interest in campanology because the bell now alternately galvanises your Skaven into action or disorientates your foes depending on whether the battle round is odd or even. If that wasn’t enough mayhem for you, it can simply rip a hole in reality, enabling Skaven reinforcements to swarm out of the ground around it. The second warscroll is for the Brood Terror, which now hits a bit harder and has been gifted with Ward (5+). Also, one of its weapons has curiously been changed to ‘loosely attached bladed limbs’, which it can use to enhance the hitting power of nearby Moulder units. We imagine this involves some delimbing (eurgh!) followed by some frantic grasping, tearing and ripping. The Skaven are truly diabolical…

Make sure you return tomorrow with your rubber-soled boots for the next instalment in the Scourge of Ghyran series, plus your first look into the upcoming General’s Handbook 2025-2026 which we’ll be doling out like warpstone chips.
