Justin D. Hill chats Hell’s Last and the Minka Lesk saga

With the oblivion of Cadia at the hands of Abaddon the Despoiler, you’d think that the remaining Cadians would be a scattered, defeated bunch. But these purple-eyed soldiers are as tenacious as they come, and they won’t let something as trivial as the total destruction of their planet keep them down for long.

In fact, Cadian recruitment has spread wider, while the loss of so much life has left room for talented individuals like Minka Lesk to make meteoric rises through the ranks by proving their worth in combat.

Justin D. Hill has told her story since Cadia Stands in 2017, and with the recent release of Hell’s Last and an accompanying set of miniatures, we spoke to him on video about his work on the character and her series.

If you’ve not caught up with Minka yet, try Minka Lesk: The Last Whiteshield, which collects three novels and two short stories, all by Justin.

He loves hearing from readers and hobbyists online: “I was a gamer long before I was a Black Library author, and seeing Minka appear in plastic was an honour. I love people tagging me, showing me their own attempts at painting Minka, or photos of her leading armies on the battlefield. My son has Minka in his Cadian army, which is pretty extraordinary.”

You can look forward to Hell’s Last arriving in paperback later in the year.
