Behind the scenes with Wētā Workshop on Warhammer TV

It’s another jam-packed week on Warhammer+, as Deep Strike has an exclusive chat with Wētā Workshop about the creation of their awesome statues, while How We Roll looks behind the curtain at the work that goes into expanding Warhammer lore with new characters, locations, and events.

In this week’s Deep Strike episode, Alex gets the opportunity to pick the brain of Creative Director Jules German from Wētā Workshop, who recently unveiled the incredible Mephiston statue at the Warhammer Preview show last month.

We discover just how much work goes into sculpting every scar and wrinkle of their immensely detailed 1:6 scale statues, from Lieutenant Titus and the diabolical Skragrott the Loonking to their wearable Space Marine helmet replicas, and how they choose characters like Mephiston and Neave Blacktalon from the vast corpus of Warhammer works.

Meanwhile, How We Roll collars senior writers Andy and David from the Warhammer Studio to discuss the ever-expanding world of Warhammer lore. Find out how designers breathe further life into beloved factions and characters while keeping their identity intact.

With so many moving parts making up the intricate mechanisms of Warhammer lore, each new character and unit is carefully crafted so that both its background and rules fit seamlessly into place, whether existing events are being expanded or whole new stories are being created. Put simply, this is an essential episode for Warhammer fans of all stripes, and especially those curious about the work that goes into such expansive and intricate settings.

Finally, Warhammer Colour Masterclass caps it off with an in-depth tutorial on painting the cleanest, brightest white armour possible. There aren’t many places in the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms where you can keep your pristine clothes spotless for long, so a gleaming finish is a real statement piece that makes your highlight miniatures stand out amongst the crowd.

All three of these episodes can be watched right now with a Warhammer+ subscription, giving you access to the vast library of Warhammer TV shows, from interviews and game shows to animations and hobby tutorials.

You also get access to the Warhammer Vault, which contains over 30 years of lore publications and White Dwarf issues to sink your teeth into. In fact, two more are being added today.

Issue 509 shows off a titanic conflict featuring the towering Imperial Knights, while Issue 510 heads to Middle-earth and saddles up with the horse lords of Rohan. Subscribe today, and you can see it all, and you even get a free miniature when you sign up for a whole year!
