We’ve previously mused on the idea of judging books by their covers, while also revealing four sensational sounding new novels from Black Library. Turns out judging books on their covers is the right thing to do, especially when they have better covers than a regular book… We’ve got four special edition releases to reveal, each with an exquisite cover to judge.

Belisarius Cawl knows a thing or two about fancy works and rare relics. He, Tetrarch Felix and his elite warriors off to the long-dead world of Sotha, once home to the Scythes of the Emperor, in search of a key fragment of the enigmatic Great Work. All that stands between him and his prize is an ancient evil that wants to extinguish all hope for humanity.
Belisarius Cawl: The Great Work by Guy Haley will be released with a red fabric cover, gold foil blocking, gold page edges and red ribbon bookmark. Each copy will be numbered and signed by the author.

That howling you can hear being carried by the wind? That’s Si from the WarhammerTV team trying doing his very best to manifest the release of the new Space Wolves army set. What he doesn’t know (until he reads this sentence) is that the first three books of William King’s Space Wolf series are being collected together as Space Wolves: The Young Wolf. A bildungsroman of sorts, just with more chainsaws than you’d expect, it charts the ascent of Ragnar Blackmane from his recruitment into the Space Wolves up to his time as a Wolf Guard, with all the action in between.
Collected in a numbered matte-finish slipcase, you’ll find copies of Space Wolf (with introduction by Dan Abnett), Ragnar’s Claw and Grey Hunter each with yellow cloth covers and screenprinted art and black ribbon bookmarks.

From one chapter of grey-armoured animal-flavoured Space Marines to another. The Carcharodons are insular even for Astartes, spending their time hunting the enemies of humankind at the dark edges of the galaxy. When Chaos forces led by Datagnost Voldire, a dread disciple of Vashtorr the Arkifane, attacks the forge world of Daiamantus, Bail Sharr and the Carcharodons’ Third Company must come in from the cold and take up arms with the Adeptus Mechancius to drive back the heretics.
This special edition of Carcharodons: Void Exile contains the titular novel by Robbie MacNiven, alongside the short A Tithe of Shadows. It receives the same cover treatment as Red Tithe and Outer Dark, featuring silver page edges, a grey ribbon bookmark. Each copy is numbered, and contains the author’s signature and an introduction.

The first phase of Roboute Guilliman’s Indomitus Crusade is slowly drawing to a close, and as he makes for the Great Rift in order, Battlefleet Kallides is despatched to the Pariah Nexus, where the Necron dynasties are being united by the return of their tight-lipped monarch.
The Silent King by Guy Haley is the final novel in the Dawn of Fire series. It will get the special edition treatment with a faux-leather hardback with ribbed spine and gold foil details, gilt page edges and gold ribbon. Each copy is numbered, signed by the author, and contains both an introduction and notes for further reading around the campaign.
And that’s your lot. All of the books above are limited in availability, and will be available to pre-order later in the year.
